Touching the Future With Transparent Electrode Materials

New transparent electrode materials for advanced touch technologies will be presented at the Touch Taiwan Exhibition and Conference by Heraeus Conductive Polymers Division, the leading supplier of PEDOT based con-ductive polymers.
The Heraeus product range not only includes the established highly conductive Clevios(TM) PH1000 but also at the show the development material Clevios(TM) HY1, providing sheet resistivity up to 50 Ohm/Sq., will be intro-duced. Both printable materials are practical alternatives to existing trans-parent conductive oxides, especially Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), as they are highly transparent and economical in use.

The booth will feature examples of applications including patterning for touch and lighting applications using Clevios(TM) Etch and SET materials to establish active and non-conductive areas on a PET film. Practical exam-ples of touch technologies using Clevios(TM) materials will also be on display. Samples of PET conductive films provided by our industry partners will also be at the show booth.
With applications using touch technologies expanding at a rapid rate, con-ductive Clevios(TM) materials offers panel producers greater choice for the next generation of touch based devices. With Clevios(TM) mobile phones and tablets may become lighter, more reliable and potentially even flexible. Even simple membrane switch technologies will move to touch panels in future.

Dr Stephan Kirchmeyer, Manager of the Functional Coatings Business at Heraeus, said “The public”s appetite for touch active devices sees no limits. Clevios(TM) PEDOT materials are key components in moving towards more economic and sustainable basis for touch technologies. Clevios(TM) meets the criteria for the electronics industry and now provides a technical choice for the touch manufacturer that was unthinkable 5 years ago.”
The stand will also show Clevios(TM) materials for OLED display and lighting applications. A highlight is the OLED lighting demonstrator that uses Clevios(TM) materials not only for use as an electrode but also as transport layer. This co-production with PolyIC, GmbH uses a nano-silver bus bar substrate film from the German company.
