Michigan Trauma Quality Improvement Program Selects ArborMetrix-s Clinical Analytics Platform

ANN ARBOR, MI — (Marketwired) — 09/10/13 — , the leading provider of real-time clinical healthcare analytics, announced today that the (MTQIP) has chosen its fully integrated, cloud-based registry and analytics platform to drive meaningful analysis and decision support.

MTQIP, a (BCBSM) (CQI), is using ArborMetrix-s platform to integrate clinical and administrative data from participating hospitals to measure outcome variations that will be reported through web-based dashboards. ArborMetrix is also integrating MTQIP-s historic registry data into the new measurement and reporting platform.

MTQIP is a voluntary collaboration funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network of Michigan. The University of Michigan serves as the coordinating center for MTQIP, which has a registry that contains data on more than 50,000 patients from 23 adult Level 1 and 2 trauma centers in Michigan.

“Our goal in partnering with ArborMetrix is to create excitement across our member hospitals and health systems about the quality improvements they could achieve more quickly and effectively through the use of analytics,” said Mark R. Hemmila, M.D., MTQIP program director and associate professor of surgery at the University of Michigan-s Division of Acute Care Surgery. “ArborMetrix provides real-time, risk- and reliability-adjusted performance measures that enable users to quickly drill down into their data and correlate care processes with outcomes. These critical insights will enable our MTQIP members to measure and improve the quality of care administered to trauma patients throughout Michigan.”

The ArborMetrix solution, with its propriety clinical analytics and risk and reliability adjustments, provides clinicians, practices and hospitals with the transparency necessary to reduce avoidable events, track performance, develop best practices and support continuous quality improvement.

“As the healthcare industry shifts to an outcomes-based care model, it is becoming more critical than ever for healthcare organizations and professionals to exchange information to develop best practices,” said Brett Furst, CEO of ArborMetrix. “For years, trauma centers have been collecting data on outcomes but they received very little meaningful information in return. Our goal with MTQIP and future trauma initiatives is to leverage existing data feeds to generate actionable insights to help participating centers improve care delivery.”

CQIs provide regular reports analyzing participants- comparative cost-efficiency and utilization rates for targeted episodes of care. They also work closely with other CQI programs sponsored by . Like MTQIP, those CQIs use ArborMetrix-s clinical registries and work collaboratively with providers to collect, analyze and share data to enhance care processes and eliminate variability in care.

ArborMetrix-s real-time healthcare analytics solutions will be featured in Booth No. 307 at the Sept. 18-21 at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.

The Michigan Trauma Quality Improvement Program (MTQIP) was created in 2008 as a pilot program involving six trauma centers in Michigan. In 2011, MTQIP became a formal BCBSM-supported CQI program. The MTQIP registry currently contains data on over 50,000 patients from 23 adult Level 1 and 2 trauma centers in Michigan. The University of Michigan serves as the coordinating center for MTQIP.

The objective of MTQIP is to measure and improve the quality of care administered to trauma patients in Michigan. This is a voluntary collaboration between Level I and 2 trauma centers in the State of Michigan, funded by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Blue Care Network of Michigan. The consortium supports a collaborative quality initiative (CQI) for trauma providers. Hallmarks of the program are complete and accurate data collection, data validation, risk-adjusted outcomes feedback, and implementation of mechanisms to measure and correlate care processes with outcomes.
