QuickFire Networks Joins Media Excel Family of 4K HEVC HERO Applications

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS and SAN DIEGO, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/12/13 — — , the premier provider of ultra high performance video encoding/transcoding platforms for mobile and broadband content providers, announced today at that Media Excel has selected the T-Video V1200 platform for file-to-file encoding as part of the HERO family of video transcoders for H.265/HEVC high efficiency video encoding applications, including 4K Ultra High Definition TV (4K/UHDTV). The T-Video V1200 is powered by 4th generation IntelĀ® Core i7-4700 processors, enabling up to 10X the current “state-of-the-art” performance per rack unit with half the power consumption.

“Video encoding standards are advancing faster and with much higher performance requirements than anyone imagined,” said Jongil Kim, CEO of Media Excel. “Keeping up with the latest standards, while not sacrificing the premium video quality demanded by our customers requires disruptive rather than incremental solutions. The T-Video V1200, coupled with our unequalled, reliable, and professional quality HERO encoding/transcoding software, meets this challenge head on.”

“We are honored to be a part of the Media Excel ecosystem,” said Mike Coward, Founder and CEO of QuickFire Networks Corporation. “Media Excel-s stringent requirement for maintaining the highest possible quality while simultaneously pushing the leading edge of technology is a perfect match for the T-Video V1200, which is optimized for carrier-grade ultra high performance within an eco-friendly footprint.”

“Intel-s new processors enable substantial transformation in communication appliances,” said Bill Rollender, director of marketing for Intel-s Communications Infrastructure Division of Intel Corporation. “4K/UHD and H.265/HEVC together require significantly more processing versus 1080p and H.264/AVC, and the 4th generation IntelĀ® Core i7 processors are an ideal fit for this emerging 4K ultra high-definition standard.”

QuickFire Networks and Media Excel will demonstrate 4K/UHDTV H.265/HEVC encoding via the HERO platform, based on the T-Video V1200 powered by Intel, at IBC2013 at the Amsterdam RAI, September 13-17. (Hall 13, MS40).
