Classy, emotional, strikingly good: Innovative beverage cans

Digital Window Printing: A unique way to customize cans
36 different layouts in one production run – the new two-stage Digital Window Printing process allows beverage producers to present their cans with a range of up to 36 different designs. The new technology is ideally suited for actively engaging customers with the brand, for example through seasonal promotions or by submitting photos and designs.

Effective finishes: Ball presents beverage cans with eye-catching designs
Sunlight Effect: Design elements printed on cans with the new Sunlight Effect ink developed by Ball are not noticeable at first glance. The designs become visible when UV light strikes the beverage can. When the UV light disappears, the images or text vanish – like magic.

Silk & Shine Effect is a new Ball coating technology that for the first time creates a powerful contrast by combining the effects of high gloss and matte printing.

The Neon Effect creates an intense, neon-yellow for enhancing can designs. A new ink pigment produces a striking color effect and adds sharp, vibrant contrasts – especially against a black background.

Small change, big effect: Beverage can with Easy Flow End
The Easy Flow End beverage can features an additional air vent under the tab that can be easily pierced by the consumer. This innovation improves air flow so that the contents can be smoothly poured or sipped.

Expanded range of can sizes for better brand differentiation at the POS
With two new can sizes, Ball Packaging Europe expands the opportunities for manufacturers to market their products in the perfectly sized container to match drink and consumer with the situation in which the drink is enjoyed. While the 35,5cl Sleek can has a slender silhouette and is nice to hold, the XL can contains nearly a liter (946ml) and is ideal for sharing with friends at home or at parties.

Ball develops the world”s lightest 50cl aluminum beverage can
Ball is unveiling the world”s lightest 50cl aluminum beverage can at drinktec 2013. The sealed B-Can is 5% lighter than a standard beverage can. Ball is thus taking an important step toward improving the environmental footprint of beverage cans. At first glance, 5% may seem like a minimal reduction in the amount of material used. But it makes a big difference. Replacing all 33cl and 50cl aluminum cans in Europe with the ultra-light model produced by Ball would save about 19,000 tons of aluminum each year. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of 100 jumbo jets.
