Wilocity WiGig Gains Traction With New Dell Premium and High-Performance Ultrabooks and Workstations

SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/17/13 — , a leading developer of 60 GHz multi-gigabit wireless chipsets, today announced the integration of Wilocity chipsets into several new premium Dell Ultrabooks and high-performance Dell mobile workstations. Dell was first to launch tri-band Wi-Fi products earlier this year with the industry-leading Dell 6430u Ultrabook and D5000 Wireless Dock, and it continues to build on that momentum with the new product offerings.

“We-re proud to be working with Dell to lead the next wave of tri-band Wi-Fi products,” said Mark Grodzinsky, vice president of marketing, Wilocity. “These high-speed products are the first step toward a world in which all intelligent devices are connected through a Wi-Fi network. As more products reach consumers thanks to partners like Dell, we-re seeing wireless docking gain traction across the workplace, in large and small businesses alike.”

The WiGig® standard, now ratified by IEEE and incorporated into the Wi-Fi Alliance portfolio, marks a new era in wireless with speeds up to 10 times faster than mainstream Wi-Fi. Wilocity WiGig enables the near elimination of wires and the ability to transfer files virtually instantaneously and transmit high quality video streams, wirelessly.

Dell-s latest generation and Ultrabook, which became available in August, and the Precision and Workstations, which began shipping this month, feature the tri-band Wi-Fi chipset from Wilocity that integrates the multi-gigabit performance of the 60 GHz band with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band “whole home” Wi-Fi. Wilocity-s tri-band solution enables consumers to wirelessly connect from their laptop or workstation to compatible mouse, monitor, keyboard and conference-room equipment peripherals with the available Dell D5000 Wireless Dock for a wire-free desktop.

“Dell is committed to innovation and redefining the end-user experience for both businesses and consumers. WiGig, powered by Wilocity, is today-s fastest wireless and on the cutting-edge of connected computing,” said Kirk Schell, vice president, commercial PC product group. “Earlier this year Dell introduced the and recently the addition of the WiGig-capable Latitude 7000 and 5000 Series to the world-s most secure and manageable line of commercial PCs with outstanding reliability.”

Wilocity is expected to announce additional 60 GHz-enabled products this fall, as the company continues to broaden its portfolio with a wide variety of computing platforms.
