AutoGrid Systems Named to Global Cleantech 100

REDWOOD SHORES, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/10/13 — , a leader in Big Data analytics for the electricity and energy industry, has been selected for the prestigious produced by , a global market intelligence and consulting firm helping executives connect with innovation.

The company was also selected as a finalist for the Industry Leadership Award for Grid Optimization for the . The awards will be announced on December 12, 2013.

“We are very pleased to be included in the Global Cleantech 100 and as a finalist for the Platts Global Energy Awards,” said Amit Narayan, CEO and founder of AutoGrid. “Power producers, grid operators, commercial enterprises and even residential consumers are beginning to discover the power of Big Data and analytics. Providing greater insight and control over power consumption will lead to a more efficient and reliable grid, while reducing costs for everyone.”

The Global Cleantech 100 highlights the promise of private clean technology companies from around the world, focusing on those companies most likely to make the most significant market impact over the next five to ten years. 5,864 companies from 60 countries were nominated this year.

AutoGrid-s EDP analyzes multiple streams of structured and unstructured data originating from smart meters, grid sensors, and other energy management systems and combines this data with physics-based models of transmission and distribution networks as well as other sources of information such as weather feeds and customer demographics to generate comprehensive, accurate forecasts concerning power consumption and grid conditions.

Applications built on top of EDP then utilize these forward-looking forecasts to dynamically reduce peak consumption, manage power quality in the presence of intermittent renewable resources such as solar and wind, curb power theft and other tasks. EDP applications can supplement or even replace dedicated hardware systems which cost substantially more to implement and operate.

EDP is based upon open standards and profile specifications such as OpenADR 2.0b and SEP 2.0, enabling third parties to easily build products and technology for EDP. EDP is compatible with hardware and third-party software applications from over 100 vendors.

AutoGrid Demand Response Optimization and Management System (DROMS), the first commercially released application built for EDP, can cut the cost of implementing demand response programs by 90% while increasing the “yield” by up to 30%. City of Palo Alto Utilities, Oklahoma Gas & Electric and Austin Energy have already implemented demand response programs based on DROMS.

AutoGrid is also collaborating with Schneider Electric, Silver Spring Networks, NTT DATA, SAP Co-innovation Laboratory, the California Energy Commission and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory on ways to deploy EDP and EDP applications for improved industrial energy management, smart homes and other functions.

Founded in 2011, AutoGrid is dedicated to bringing the power of Big Data, predictive analytics and Internet-scale computational techniques to the production and consumption of electricity. Serving utilities of all sizes, grid operators, electricity retailers, ESCO services companies, and end-users, AutoGrid develops and markets software solutions that both help lower costs and improve reliability of the electricity supply chain. AutoGrid-s technology was awarded the prestigious Department of Energy-s Advanced Projects Research Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) funding in 2012. For more, please see our or .
