Incapsula Brings Layer 7 Load Balancing Into the Cloud

REDWOOD SHORES, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/15/13 — , a cloud-based Web security and performance service, today announced a major update to their Load Balancing capabilities to improve response times and availability for their customers. Through Layer 7 awareness and a Least Pending Requests (LPR) Load Balancing algorithm, Incapsula more accurately distributes traffic among an array of physical or virtual servers, regardless of their geographic location, directly from the cloud.

“With this release we-ve simplified Layer 7 Load Balancing, making it available directly from the cloud,” said Marc Gaffan, co-founder VP Marketing and Business Development, Incapsula. “By monitoring -request queues,- the LPR algorithm is able to identify the best available server and make it a target for the next incoming request to drastically improve website performance times and infrastructure utilization.”

The Least Pending Requests algorithm relies on Incapsula-s ability to track HTTP requests as they are processed by the origin servers. Combined with Layer 7 Session Persistence, LPR helps assure effective load distribution. LPR will now be the new default Load Balancing method for all new clients. The existing Load Balancing methods of Least Open Connection, Source IP hashing and Random schemes will remain as options.

All Load Balancing Options will continue to be available for, Multiple IP addresses, Amazon ELB aliases, as well as other Custom CNAMEs.
