Azul Systems Re-Elected to Java Community Process Executive Committee

SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/30/13 — Azul Systems, Inc. (), the award-winning leader in Java runtime scalability, today announced that the company had been re-elected to the Executive Committee (EC) of the Java Community Process (JCP). The JCP is an open, participative process program established in 1998 to foster the evolution of the Java platform in cooperation with the international Java developer community. Over nine million Java developers worldwide look to the JCP EC to review and approve new features of the Java language and runtime ecosystem. Azul joins Oracle, IBM, Red Hat, Intel, Credit Suisse, the Eclipse Foundation, Twitter, ARM, and others on the Executive Committee.

Since first being elected to the JCP Executive Committee in 2011, Azul has been an active EC member and contributor in the ongoing project to upgrade the JCP-s process and structure under JSR358 (commonly referred to as “JCP.next”). Azul has also taken strong positions on protecting community rights, access to technology, and the role of individual Java developers as JCP members. Azul believes that the Java Community Process should be largely influenced by the developers that consume and use the technology standards produced, with voting rights secured for all members and not limited to the companies that define and form those standards. Azul is also particularly focused on continuing to improve and ensure long-term community access to key enabling JSR technologies.

“The entire Azul Systems team is both honored and delighted to be re-elected to the JCP EC,” said Scott Sellers, Azul Systems president and CEO. “Gil Tene is a tireless advocate for the Java community and we look forward to his continued representation on the JCP Executive Committee.”

The Executive Committee (EC) is the group of Members guiding the evolution of Java technology in the Java Community Process (JCP). The EC represents both major stakeholders and a representative cross-section of the Java Community. The EC is responsible for approving the passage of specifications through key points of the JCP and for reconciling discrepancies between specifications and their associated test suites.

Azul Systems (Azul) is an award-winning provider of Java for the enterprise. Based in Sunnyvale, Calif., Azul has been delivering Java solutions for more than 10 years with deep domain knowledge in Java runtimes, elastic memory, Pauseless Garbage Collection and runtime resource monitoring. Azul is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Java Community Process (JCP.) Azul-s enterprise products enable organizations to simplify their Java-based operations while achieving lower peak latencies, improved scalability, greater response time consistency and dramatically improved development and operating costs.
