Edward Jones Selects ZL Technologies to Meet Information Governance Needs

SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 11/14/13 — (ZL), the leader in total information governance for the large enterprise, announced today that Edward Jones has selected ZL Unified ArchiveĀ® (ZL UA) for comprehensive email and file archiving, consisting of over 100 TB of data. Seeking to improve eDiscovery workflows, reduce costs, and mitigate risk, Edward Jones evaluated a wide variety of potential information governance approaches before selecting ZL UA. As the only single-platform system which could provide the requisite scalability and flexibility, the Unified ArchiveĀ® allowed Edward Jones to replace its stand-alone file (StoredIQ) and email (EAS) environments with one centralized, powerful solution for all unstructured content.

Edward Jones first turned to ZL to address the rapidly growing volume of its file shares. Looking to achieve the risk and cost reduction of proactive eDiscovery, records management, and offloading of files to more cost-effective storage, the customer decided to utilize Unified Archive-s robust file archiving capabilities. By leveraging ZL UA-s advanced crawling and full-text indexing of file systems, the customer archived over 20 TB of unstructured material, allowing them to take advantage of ZL UA-s granular search and lifecycle policy capabilities, as well as eDiscovery functionality spanning the entire EDRM from information management to production.

Having addressed file shares, Edward Jones sought to improve management of emails and associated content such as attachments. The customer previously employed HP Autonomy-s EAS software for basic archiving functionality; however, expanding volumes of unstructured data — 800+ million email messages — and the need to effectively manage both emails and files for multiple business requirements called for an information governance system that was much broader in scope and capabilities. Edward Jones thus retired its disparate point solutions for emails and files in favor of ZL UA, enabling one data copy, one global search, and one point of centralized control for all enterprise content.

With its emails and files centrally managed by Unified Archive, Edward Jones manages and disposes of data with unparalleled defensibility, from a singular, scalable platform. Should litigation hit, the customer will be able to search and evaluate its global data environment with unmatched speed, accuracy, and completeness.

“We-re proud to welcome Edward Jones to the growing list of Fortune 500 organizations that are turning to ZL-s unified approach to achieve effective information governance,” said Kon Leong, CEO of ZL Technologies. “With premier financial institutions facing the full brunt of heavy regulation and risk, ZL UA offers the powerful and seamless information management capabilities that are needed to exceed today-s requirements as well as the meet the strategic objectives of tomorrow.”

ZL Technologies, Inc. makes Unified ArchiveĀ® software (“ZL UA”) to enable large enterprises to manage all unstructured content such as e-mail and files, to satisfy corporate archiving needs for e-Discovery, records management, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and storage management. It also enables the same unstructured content to become the organization-s Corporate eMemory for competitive advantage, such as sharing knowledge, experts, and history across the enterprise. ZL UA-s unique differentiator is its unified architecture, which consolidates all applications and billions of documents under one platform, thus eliminating today-s fractured data silos which significantly raise operating costs and legal risks. Demonstrating a proven track record with Global 500 customers and strategic partnerships with major players such as Oracle, Unisys, and SunGard, ZL has emerged as the technology leader in harnessing unstructured “Big Data” for strategic advantage.
