Algolia Announces Free Hacker Plan for Hosted Web and Mobile Search

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/01/14 — Algolia announced today the launch of a new free Hacker Plan for developers wanting all the power and functionality of Algolia at a smaller scale. The company also announced its continued momentum with the availability of a fourth data center for North America West, new search capabilities, and an enhanced dashboard. Algolia delivers the fastest search on mobile and web. Customers around the world including, Aftership, A Little Market (Etsy), Crunchbase, Genius.com, JadoPado, Livestream and Sunrise deployed Algolia to increase conversions and kill the zero results message. Demos of Algolia can be seen at

“Algolia seemed too good to be true. Ultra-fast indexing and searching, trivial integration from the client or server side, and a massively-flexible query system that responds in milliseconds — all backed by a team that lives and breathes customer satisfaction. It–s all of that, and it–s one of the best technology decisions we–ve made at CrunchBase,” said Kurt Freytag, Head of Product at Crunchbase.

Algolia gives developers the speed and configurability they need to deliver advanced, Google-like search on any website or mobile application. New functionality helps to remove the need for the “0 Results” message and increases conversions by as much as 10%. New features include:

– A dedicated free plan for developers with all the features of Algolia, limited to 1000 records and 50,000 operations.
– Algolia continues to increase the speed of search and remove latency with the addition of a fourth data center in California and the continuing goal of under 100ms response time from anywhere in the world. Existing data centers include Asia, Europe and North America East.
– Algolia is the only search platform that helps to remove zero search results with a unique feature that dynamically adjusts the length of the query if it–s too long. When there is no result, it automatically makes words optional until there is a match.
– Location-based search results for mobile applications.
– Making implementation more simple and intuitive, Algolia–s new dashboard UX enables easier configuration support.

“One of our goals was to kill the –0 search results– response; completely remove it from our vocabulary,” said Vincent Paulin, R&D manager at A Little Market. “After this integration of the Algolia API, we saw an increase in our conversion rate on search by 10%. This represents tens of thousands euros in turnover per month. In only a few weeks of work, we had replaced our main search engine for a better solution,” Vincent Paulin R&D Manager at A Little Market an Etsy company.

Founded in 2012, Algolia is a cloud-based instant search platform that allows websites and mobile applications to increase user engagement and conversions. Algolia returns search results in ms, with a search-as-you-type experience for their end users. Algolia allows any developer to build the search engine they want quickly and easily. Algolia customers include: A Little Market an Etsy company, Crunchbase, HackerNews, Genius.com and Livestream. To learn more about Algolia visit .
