Vendors Fight for Dominance in the Worldwide Enterprise Mobility Management Software Market: New IDC MarketScape Highlights How The Major Players Stack Up

.2014 – International Data Corporation (IDC) has published a new vendor and market analysis profiling the leading providers in the worldwide enterprise mobility management (EMM) software market. The IDC MarketScape report utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology that produces a definitive assessment of each vendor–s current market capabilities and strategies for competing in the future. IDC placed six vendors – AirWatch, Citrix, Good Technology, IBM, MobileIron, and SAP – in the “Leaders” category for 2014, with five others – BlackBerry, LANDESK, SOTI, Symantec, and Trend Micro – recognized as “Major Players.”
The EMM software market is in the midst of rapid change and consolidation as customers– needs have shifted from device management to a broader set of requirements around application security and data protection. The EMM market has evolved to include a collection of technologies that span across the functional areas of endpoint management, policy management, identity, network security, data protection and management, application security, and application life-cycle management.
“To meet the changing demands of the end user, vendors are continually adjusting and expanding their product suites,” said Stacy Crook, Research Director, Mobile Enterprise Research. “Because the mobile maturity of most customers remains relatively low, this is the perfect time for vendors to become aggressive and take advantage of the opportunity to unseat even some of the more established competitors.”
Enterprise mobility is complex, and those standing still will be left behind. This study, IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Enterprise Mobility Management Software 2014 Vendor Assessment (Doc #251379), uses the IDC MarketScape model to provide an assessment of eleven vendors participating in the worldwide enterprise mobility management software market. The IDC MarketScape is an evaluation based on a comprehensive framework and a set of parameters that assess vendors relative to one another and to those factors expected to be most conducive to success in a given market during the short term and the long term.
About IDC MarketScape
The IDC MarketScape vendor analysis model is designed to provide an overview of the competitive fitness of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific suppliers in a given market. The research methodology utilizes a rigorous scoring methodology based on both qualitative and quantitative criteria that results in a single graphical illustration of each vendor–s position within a given market. IDC MarketScape provides a clear framework in which the product and service offerings, capabilities and strategies, and current and future market success factors of IT, telecommunications, or industry-specific vendors can be meaningfully compared. The framework also provides technology buyers with a transparent foundation to allow companies to independently compare the strengths and weaknesses of current and prospective vendors.
