Lumenpulse Inc. (TSX: LMP) has won a (NGL) award for the Lumencove Nano, a dimmable cove lighting system that eliminates the need for a power supply. The LED luminaire, the latest addition to Lumenpulse–s Lumencove family of luminaires, was given the Recognized award in the Cove Lighting Luminaire category.

“We–re very proud to have won an NGL award for the Lumencove Nano,” said Francois-Xavier Souvay, President and CEO at Lumenpulse. “It breaks free from the dependence on traditional power supplies, which has always limited the performance and durability of LED lighting. We feel that this is a real innovation for the industry, and we–re happy to have been recognized for it,” he said.

Launched at Lightfair 2014, the debuts Lumendrive, a patent-pending ASIC technology that powers and control LEDs directly from the AC mains – while still allowing full digital dimming and control. By dispensing with a power supply, the technology provides multiple benefits, including smaller size, extended lifetime, and outstanding efficiency. Available in 3- and 6-watt versions, the Lumencove Nano delivers up to 100 lm/W and up to 559 lumens per foot. The luminaire is backed by a ten-year limited warranty.

“The Next Generation Luminaires Award is further validation of the Lumencove Nano and Lumendrive technology,” said Greg Campbell, Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Lumenpulse. “Lumendrive lets us avoid the typical efficiency losses that occur in the AC-to-DC power conversion with embedded power supplies, allowing us to provide greater efficiency in a smaller luminaire,” he said.

266 products were up for consideration in this year–s NGL indoor competition, which featured 10 judges drawn from the architectural lighting industry.

“Products that have been evaluated by the Next Generation Luminaires design competition have been vetted to a degree that no other evaluation does,” said Dan Blitzer of the NGL Steering Committee. “They have been evaluated for their performance by a diverse group of professionals from the design, engineering and construction sides of the business,” he said.

The NGL awards are sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). The awards ceremony took place on September 17, 2014 at the in Los Angeles, CA. For more information, please visit .
