Bromium CEO Honored by Goldman Sachs for Entrepreneurship

CUPERTINO, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/15/14 — , the pioneer and leader in transforming endpoint security using micro-virtualization, today announced that Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) has recognized Bromium CEO & Co-founder Gaurav Banga as one of the “100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2014” at the Goldman Sachs Builders + Innovators Summit in Santa Barbara, California.

Goldman Sachs selected Banga as one of 100 entrepreneurs from multiple industries to be honored at the two-day event. Banga is a seasoned entrepreneur and technologist, having led the creation of successful businesses and exceptional technologies. Prior to founding Bromium, he was CTO and SVP of Engineering at Phoenix Technologies Ltd, where he led the creation of HyperSpace, the world–s first firmware-integrated client hypervisor. Prior to Phoenix, Gaurav was VP of Product Management at Intellisync Corporation.

“While I am honored to be recognized by Goldman Sachs, I share this honor with all my colleagues at Bromium for their tireless devotion to developing the next-generation of endpoint security solutions,” said Gaurav Banga. “Increasingly, organizations are realizing that anti-virus solutions and network based defenses are inadequate forms of protection against advanced cyber attacks, and this recognition by Goldman Sachs validates Bromium–s new approach to address this challenge.”

Bromium is transforming endpoint security by using micro-virtualization to isolate user tasks. Bromium isolates every user task, such as opening email, reading documents and browsing the Internet, in a micro-VM that is automatically discarded when the task is complete. As a result, malware is unable to read/write system resources, access the corporate network or persist outside of the micro-VM.

“We are honored to recognize Gaurav Banga as one of the most intriguing entrepreneurs of 2014,” said David Solomon, co-head of investment banking at Goldman Sachs. “This is the third year for the summit and our goal remains the same. We pair seasoned and emerging entrepreneurs — the builders and innovators — from a diverse set of industries to discuss how to make vital, enduring companies that reshape industries and boost the world–s economies through innovation.”

For more than 140 years, Goldman Sachs has been advising and financing entrepreneurs as they launch and grow their businesses. In addition to honoring 100 entrepreneurs, the summit consists of general sessions and clinics led by Goldman Sachs experts, seasoned entrepreneurs, academics and business leaders as well as resident scholars.

Bromium is re-inventing enterprise security with its powerful new technology, micro-virtualization, which was designed to protect businesses from advanced malware, while simultaneously empowering users and delivering unmatched threat intelligence to IT. Unlike traditional security methods, which rely on complex and ineffective detection techniques, Bromium protects against malware from the Web, email or USB devices, by automatically isolating each user-task at the endpoint in a hardware-isolated micro-VM, preventing theft or damage to any enterprise resource. Bromium–s technological innovations have earned the company numerous industry awards including being named as a CNBC Disruptor and a Gartner Cool Vendor for 2013. Bromium counts a rapidly growing set of Fortune 500 companies and government agencies as customers, including NYSE and BlackRock.
