devolo Taps Z-Wave for New Family of Retail Smart Home Products

MILPITAS, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/16/14 — (NASDAQ: SIGM), a leading provider of intelligent system-on-chip (SoC) solutions for Smart TV, Smart home and IP-based set-top-boxes, announced today that THE leading European powerline communications provider devolo AG has launched the technology for its entirely new devolo Home Control product line devolo. The devolo solution, powered by Sigma Designs– latest Z-Wave 500 series wireless communications technology, makes home automation simple with a modular system and plug-and-play components to maximize safety, security, comfort and convenience. Available beginning in November 2014 at retail stores, this new solution enables consumers to easily install and operate their own home control systems.

The new devolo Home Control solution includes an affordable starter set with a central home unit and components that can be combined to provide smart control over all connected devices, such as appliances, thermostats and power outlets. The system is easy to expand, and requires no complicated hardware installation or IT know-how. For installation and control, the unit can be accessed via Wi-Fi or remote Internet connection to a simple online user interface, or smartphone/tablet apps. In addition, the system can be operated entirely offline. A high-performance transmission and receiving module in the central unit ensures optimal range for connecting devices using the Z-Wave wireless smart home standard.

The devolo brand already has a substantial retail presence based on its very successful HPAV products. The devolo Z-Wave Home Control product line leverages its HPAV expertise and massive retail footprint.
