Crossroads Systems Launches StrongBox Early Adopter Program

AUSTIN, TX — (Marketwire) — 07/20/11 — Crossroads Systems, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: CRDS), a leader in data protection, security, and storage connectivity, launched its StrongBox Early Adopter Program by shipping their new network-attached storage system to select members of the Crossroads Customer Advisory Board.

The many companies participating in the program represent numerous vertical markets, including broadcast and consumer media entertainment, cloud service providers, consulting, finance, government, hosted service providers, managed service providers, and manufacturing.

Following these initial StrongBox shipments, the company plans to roll out additional shipments to program participants every three to four weeks, with the general release scheduled for October 2011.

Designed to address the need for low cost and highly reliable long-term data preservation, StrongBox serves as an online archive for tier 3 data (defined as -write once and read rarely-). It presents itself to the user as familiar hard disk storage, but combines hard disk storage (for fast data storage and retrieval) with high-capacity tape storage (for cost-effective, long-term storage).

Introduced in April 2011, StrongBox shatters the long-lived perception that data storage technology will forever remain proprietary, inflexible, high maintenance and expensive. By leveraging LTFS (Linear Tape File System) technology, StrongBox serves as an online, real-time accessible data vault. It acts as a standard network file system and is compatible with any file-based system architecture. It represents a revolution in the use of tape that is cost effective, energy efficient while providing an extended shelf life.

“StrongBox remains on schedule for the general launch, with our Early Adopter Program well underway,” said Debasmita Roychowdhury, senior product manager at Crossroads Systems. “Ushering in a truly new era for tape, StrongBox relieves tape of its age-long dependency on backup applications to store and retrieve data from tape.”
