Pixable Integrates Videos Into Its Smart Photo Discovery App

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 07/20/11 — Pixable (), known for helping you find the best photos shared by your friends online, has added video discovery and sharing to its app. Pixable will use the same smart technology used for ranking photos to surface the most relevant and exciting videos shared on Facebook and other media sharing sites across a user-s social network. Pixable users will have access to the new video discovery and sharing capabilities immediately.

“Facebook has become the primary place people share media online — hundreds of millions of photos and videos are shared every day,” says Pixable CEO, Inaki Berenguer. “It-s easy to miss out on the ones that matter to you, and when you do, you-re missing important moments. It could be a photo from your best friend-s vacation, a video of your niece-s first steps, or a conversation around the latest viral thing. We want to make sure you don-t miss out on any of these important moments, so incorporating videos into our product was a logical next step.”

Adding videos to the Pixable app will allow users to easily sift through YouTube, Vimeo and other videos shared by friends as well as videos uploaded directly to Facebook. The experience continues to be personalized for every user by Pixable-s WonderRank technology, which sorts through a user-s network to learn and find what has interested him in the past, and what might interest him now. The user experience is a bit like Pandora for photos and videos — the more you engage with Pixable, the “smarter” the app gets, and the better it serves your specific interests and preferences.

All Facebook users can enjoy the simple, elegant Pixable experience directly via the web at . To start browsing the latest videos being shared by friends simply login to the free Pixable web application and select either the “New Shared Videos” or “New Uploaded Videos” feed. The Pixable web experience mirrors the user experience on the iPhone and the iPad. (Video integration is currently available on the web only — coming soon to iOS devices.)
