Deutsche Telekom Taps Moogsoft Incident Management in New 5G Innovation Lab

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 03/31/15 — , the leading provider of operational intelligence for the new era of IT, today announced it has been selected by Deutsche Telekom to participate in its recently announced 5G innovation lab, 5G:haus, expanding Incident.MOOG–s monitoring footprint to next-generation mobile infrastructures. Deutsche Telekom launched the 5G innovation lab to lead further development and standardization of 5G mobile technology, and to provide a platform to engage with its customers throughout the stages of 5G development. Moogsoft is the sole systems monitoring vendor announced by the mobile operator within the lab–s partnership ecosystem, which includes universities, startups, vendors, and customers.

5G promises a huge step forward in download speeds — speeds up to 1 terabyte have been demonstrated, 100,000 times faster than burst rates achievable with 4G. With this incredible advance, mobile operators will also need to rethink their network support and tooling architectures to meet anticipated service demand, as well as overcome the challenge to discover threats to service availability much earlier. As 5G is tested further and new applications and standards are built around the technology, the current approaches to monitoring and incident management in use for 3G/4G won–t scale to address a 5G-era environment.

“5G is just one of the multiple technology transformations in this new era that is forcing mobile operators to revamp how they detect and remediate complex system problems,” said Phil Tee, CEO of Moogsoft. “Incident.MOOG is a next-generation toolset designed to increase availability of dynamic, software-centric telco infrastructures like NFV, mobile IP core, and 5G, and Deutsche Telekom is but one of many mobile operators taking notice of the value that Moogsoft provides.”

The lab–s goal is to bring together a diverse ecosystem — from large infrastructure vendors to leading technology startups and other companies in between — to debate issues, test next-generation technologies and generate new ideas that harness the power and potential of a 5G network. Deutsche Telekom is one of the leading mobile operators driving 5G advancement.

Moogsoft is designed to address the rapidly-changing IT environments that telcos, web-tech enterprises, financial institutions, and managed service providers face as they scale to address new markets, optimize their infrastructures and differentiate with superior service quality. For mobile operators and other communications service providers, Moogsoft enables deep monitoring of both new and old IT infrastructure components like switches, access gateways, controllers, servers, cloud virtualization software, as well as domain-specific monitoring tools, to deliver a single source of truth for complex, service-affecting issues in the network.

“The telco industry is known for the complex IT infrastructures resulting from multiple acquisitions and the rapid advancement of technology solutions,” said Tee. “Reducing time-to-remediation for service-affecting issues is critical in this competitive market. The only way to support these new, dynamic infrastructures is with a next-generation, agile manager of managers toolset that automates real-time anomaly detection across all layers and domains.”

Moogsoft–s flagship product, , is an IT incident early warning and collaborative remediation system used by web-scale enterprises and service providers within IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Service Management (ITSM) and DevOps teams. Using patent-pending machine learning technology, Incident.MOOG automates the early detection of service failures, reduces the noise without dependence on preset rules or models, creates contextualized situations of related alerts, and then facilitates collaboration via its Situation Rooms, orchestrating rapid restoral of business services.

is the leading provider of operational intelligence for the new era of IT, merging adaptive machine learning and socialized workflows into next-generation IT incident detection and remediation management. Its flagship service, , detects anomalies in real time to reveal service-affecting incidents as they unfold, dramatically reducing Mean-Time-to-Repair (MTTR), and enables knowledge capture and reuse through collaborative “Situation Rooms.” Moogsoft–s founders are the original team behind IBM Tivoli Netcool and RiverSoft. The company is backed by Wing Venture Capital, Redpoint Ventures, Cisco Investments and others. For more information, visit and follow us on Twitter at .
