Subsentio(R) Launches New Mediation Device Interoperable With Sonus Session Border Controllers

DENVER, CO — (Marketwired) — 04/16/15 — Subsentio, the CALEA Compliance Company, today announced the debut of the Subsentio Safe Harbor Mediator, a high capacity active lawful intercept solution. Subsentio collaborated with Sonus, a global leader in enabling and securing real-time communications, to ensure interoperability between the Subsentio Safe Harbor Mediator and the full line of Sonus Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to enable Service Providers (SPs) and Internet service providers (ISPs) to meet their lawful intercept requirements in a secure, cost-effective and reliable manner. Subsentio also announced its first customer for the new mediation device — a major national Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Interconnection company based in Chicago.

Advancements in technology and sophisticated communication channels have made it increasingly difficult to police the growing amount of criminal, cyber-based attacks. In the effort to halt these crimes, the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) permits a law enforcement agency (LEA) to conduct court-ordered lawful intercept. To facilitate the lawful intercept process, SPs and ISPs must design their networks to explicitly support authorized electronic surveillance.

Subsentio and Sonus enable SPs and ISPs to meet this compliance by implementing the Subsentio Safe Harbor Mediator into their network, connected to Sonus SBCs. The Safe Harbor Mediator collects and delivers court-ordered data quickly, reliably and economically to the designated LEA, protecting national security and public safety.

Subsentio–s new device is the latest addition to the company–s product line, inclusive of the Safe Harbor Probe, an out-of-line, passive device that can be installed anywhere in a customer–s network where intercept data is available.

“With the advent of new communication technologies, lawful interception has been instrumental in helping law enforcement agencies combat criminal activities,” said David Tipping, Vice President and General Manager, Products, Sonus. “Interoperability between Sonus SBCs and the Subsentio Safe Harbor Mediator gives Service Providers and Internet Providers a cost-effective, best-in-class solution that ensures compliance with our nation–s laws designed to protect national and public safety.”

“We are very pleased to work with Sonus and welcome our new customer to the growing family of Subsentio clients,” said Steve Bock, President of Subsentio. “Our collaboration with Sonus and the launch of the Subsentio Safe Harbor Mediator are major milestones for us and the industry, marking rapid evolution toward our unique CALEA Service Bureau model.”

Subsentio is the CALEA Compliance Company, providing total solutions for compliance with surveillance laws including the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act. Subsentio–s CALEA Service Bureau model is unique in the industry, providing all components essential to comply with the law, including outstanding technology, legal expertise, and direct experience in law enforcement. The company is based in Denver, Colorado.
