GlobalSign Teams With AirWatch to Streamline Mobile Security

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 04/20/15 — GMO GlobalSign (), a leading provider of identity services for online transactions and the security division of Tokyo-based GMO Internet Group, announced it is working with AirWatch by VMware to allow enterprises to issue and manage GlobalSign digital certificates for mobile authentication directly from the AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) platform. The combination of the AirWatch EMM platform with GlobalSign–s cloud-based Managed PKI solution provides IT teams with a streamlined approach to securely managing BYOD and employee access to corporate networks through faster and easier provisioning and management of digital certificates on mobile devices.

IT security managers ranked mobile security as their #1 concern in 2015, and 75% of them said their organizations– mobile endpoints have been attacked by some form of malware in the past 12 months.(1) Digital certificates, which are seamlessly installed on mobile devices, provide strong yet transparent security. With digital certificates, users do not have to receive and enter one-time passcodes, access to biometric readers, or carry additional tokens — yet enterprises gain stronger controls than by using passwords alone. Using digital certificates, which are based on public key infrastructure (PKI) technology, also saves organizations time and hassle by avoiding the need for single-point security solutions that ultimately leave data vulnerable as it moves from point to point.

GlobalSign–s Managed PKI implementation enables certificates to be used in today–s most in-demand mobile authentication needs, including authenticating access to email, Wi-Fi networks, and VPNs. Complementing this are additional AirWatch EMM features that simplify life cycle management, including widespread mobile certificate issuance, management, renewal or revocation of certificates, either individually or in bulk. With the GlobalSign and AirWatch solution, IT teams can:

Automatically provision digital identities on devices without end-user interaction. As soon as a device is enrolled with AirWatch, a GlobalSign digital certificate can be issued to that device

Support strong identities for Android, iOS, Windows, Blackberry and other popular mobile devices

Improve user experience with seamless authentication to corporate networks and resources

Enhance security, by controlling which devices access your networks and corporate resources

“The deployment of digital certificates through AirWatch offers our customers a simple yet powerful additional level of security and authentication,” said John Marshall, senior vice president and general manager, AirWatch by VMware. “AirWatch with GlobalSign–s Managed PKI allows enterprises to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access to sensitive information and intellectual property from mobile devices without altering the convenient and productive end user experience employees enjoy from mobility.”

“With more employees using their own devices, and the explosive Internet of Everything (IoE) projected to bring even more devices into contact with corporate resources, IT departments must look for ways to strengthen security without taxing internal resources,” said Lila Kee, chief product officer of GlobalSign. “GlobalSign–s collaboration with AirWatch is making it easier for IT teams to balance employees– needs to access email and corporate data from anywhere, with the organization–s need to protect against unauthorized access to key business applications, using the PKI technology that–s been proven for years.”

GlobalSign is demonstrating its Enterprise PKI solutions, including the solution with AirWatch, at this week–s RSA Conference 2015, held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. For more information on GlobalSign–s Enterprise PKI for Mobile, visit the AirWatch marketplace at ; or visit .
