The Germany based Start-Up AhoyRTC GmbH extends support for iPad, Safari and Internet Explorer browsers to its video conferencing solution ahoyconference.com. Key driver is WebRTC, Software which is already in the browser and allows secure encrypted access to camera and mic and just needs to be activated by the ahoyconference.com server. Since the beginning of 2015 the software is standardized by the internet bodies such as IETF and is available in browser such as Chrome, Firefox and Opera.
Starting 2011 the team is developing its WebRTC based video and chat solution. Today the servers operate some two million minutes a week and 55.000 call per day. The now published extension to iPad and Safari and IE will push the numbers to 20 million minutes as early as July 2015.
The www.ahoyconference.com Software is available for cloud and on premise operation. Users can download the server and add another layer of security. WebRTC is already encrypted end-to-end with DTLS-SRTP. The encryption does not require any user interaction and is a perfect match for the minimalistic approach of AhoyRTC to the product.
