ICOP Technology announces new EBOX box PCs

Taipei, Taiwan / Frankfurt, Germany, 5th May 2015 – There are two ways to satisfy all the varied I/O requirements, one is by packing multiple I/Os into larger systems the second is by designing a range of smaller systems. ICOP technology has chosen the second solution and today has introduced the new small form factor EBOX-3330/ 3332 box PCs series with DM&P Vortex86 processors. The new EBOX box PCs are designed to reduce OEM’s NRE costs to the minimum by offering all major I/O variants off-the-shelf, so that OEMs no longer need to invest in costly custom designs for perfectly tailored small form factor systems. A total of 88 standard systems have been built around the single core ultra-low power 933 MHz DM&P Vortex86DX2 SoC processor which only consumes a few watts.

“For the DM&P Vortex86DX2 CPU we offer an entire series of standard systems to satisfy all major peripheral interface, network and graphics demands off- the-shelf,” explains Allen Huang, Sales Manager at ICOP Technology. “With this modular setup our portfolio boasts 88 different EBOX-3330/ 3332 standard systems. Additionally, we extend this offering with different housing variants for either stand-alone/table top and VESA mounting or for DIN rail mounting. Our customers can choose between 105 different standard systems based on the DM&P Vortex86DX2 processor. With this extensive standard system range for ultra-low power x86 SoC processor technology – which, incidentally, is a perfect fit for many challenging IoT, M2M and Industry 4.0 applications – OEMs can achieve fastest time to market and reduce their NRE costs to a minimum.”

The highly flexible I/O configurations and mounting options make the new EBOX-3330/ 3332 series an ideal IoT, M2M and Industry 4.0 computing platform that can be widely deployed in home automation and security, public transportation, medical, industrial controls, Point-of-Sales and kiosk applications and many other areas. The target markets even include office and educational Thin Client systems. The systems are designed for durable and reliable field devices and have passed extensive tests and certifications under tough conditions in permanent operation.

The housings of the new box PCs are designed for stand-alone / table top operation. Owing to the integrated VESA mount mechanism, users can easily attach the EBOX-3330/ 3332 box PC series to a monitor to create a modular panel PC. The systems with DIN rail housings, listed as the DIN-PC-333x series, are ideal for control cabinets.

The technical details at a glance
The fanless EBOX-3330/ 3332 box PC series integrates an ultra-low power 933 MHz DM&P Vortex86DX2 SoC processor with 1 or 2 GB DDR2 RAM and PXE diskless boot. Standard interface options are built in majority on different amounts of serial RS-232, RS-485 and RS-422 interface as well as on one or two LAN ports for the network and VGA or HDMI for the GUI. Beside these design choices, all systems offer 3x USB, optional WiFi dongle support, SATA, SD and SDHC support as well as audio and PS/2 legacy interfaces for keyboard and mouse. The cross bar switch of the Vortex86DX2 SoC processor offers additional options including OEM motion control implementations. The EBOX-3330/ 3332 box PC series is fully compatible with the desktop series of Microsoft Windows and Linux, and supports the Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7 and Microsoft Windows Embedded Compact 7 series. All variants are available now.
