Deloitte–s Josh Bersin Breaks All Viewership Records on –Firing Line with Bill Kutik–; Says Video Is –In,– Ratings on Their Way –Out– in HR–s Learning/LeadershipRevolution

WESTPORT, CT — (Marketwired) — 06/02/15 — Josh Bersin, principal, Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP, tells “” that video is now a key component of the best corporate learning systems and that numerical rating systems for employee performance evaluations are on their way out.

Bersin–s comments highlight the fourth edition of the new broadcast-quality video interview program that began its You Tube run last week at . His program has broken all viewership records.

“Corporations have to get good at video, and many still are not there,” Bersin tells Kutik. “Young people are entering corporations and finding that the learning experience inside the company is not nearly as nice as the learning experiences on YouTube or external providers, and that–s created a huge amount of stress on internal learning organizations.”

Bersin is recognized as one of the world–s most knowledgeable individuals on learning management systems. He also adds that many companies are learning that performance ratings can be counterproductive.

“The problem with the rating is it [can] immediately make the employee defensive,” Bersin said. “It [can] create an adversarial relationship between the manager and the employee which we don–t want to have, and [can] actually reduce job performance.”

He said that Deloitte Consulting LLP research has found that only 15% of organizations surveyed believe the time they spend on performance management is worth it.

To date, “” has received more than 6000 views on the show–s YouTube channel . The new monthly web series features HD video interviews with thought-leaders from the HR tech community including practitioners, vendor executives, analysts and consultants.

“We–re delighted by the audience response, demonstrating we are delivering value to the HR community,” Kutik said. “People clearly like Firing Line–s old-fashioned journalism: fair, objective, balanced and with no marketing slant. Guests talk about what they–re thinking and doing, not what they–re selling or which software they use.”

SAP (NYSE: SAP) is sponsoring the first group of videos, and other vendors will be sponsoring in the future.
