CliQr Integrates CloudCenter Application Migration and Management Platform With Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

SAN DIEGO, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/08/15 — Today at Cisco Live, Cisco–s annual IT and communications conference, , the leading application-defined cloud management platform provider, announces integration of its CloudCenter platform with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI). The solution, which will be demonstrated at Booth #1106, creates an IT industry-leading solution that capitalizes on application relevancy to automate and optimize the end-to-end provisioning of infrastructure. The combination of CliQr and ACI reduces total cost of ownership, automates IT tasks and accelerates data center application deployments. Cisco ACI accomplishes this using a business-relevant software defined networking (SDN) policy model across networks, servers, storage, security and services. The integration of ACI with CloudCenter facilitates the deployment and management of the full application stack, leading to new levels of IT efficiency, security and control, all based on the specific characteristics and needs of the application. CloudCenter integrates with ACI to deliver a single, intuitive environment where users can easily create standard application profiles. These profiles one-click-automate the provisioning of infrastructure resources — including compute, storage and, now, ACI–s network configurations and settings — along with the deployment of the application and its full complement of required components on physical, virtual or cloud environments.

CliQr and Cisco address one of IT–s biggest challenges, the costs and complexities associated with the ever-increasing pace in which businesses are deploying new and modifying existing applications across today–s very diverse infrastructure environments. Rather than the traditional approach of manually forcing applications to conform to a variety of changing physical, virtual and cloud environments, the CloudCenter platform automates the dynamic provisioning of optimal infrastructure through Cisco–s Application Policy Infrastructure Controller, enabling resources and settings based on the application needs, which leads to new levels of operational efficiency and security.

“CliQr and Cisco share the vision that, in order to allow diverse, hybrid compute environments to scale in real businesses settings, there needs to be a simple way to focus on the application — not the infrastructure,” said Gaurav Manglik, co-founder and CEO at CliQr. “CliQr–s application-defined platform coupled with the Cisco ACI networking solution, provides an innovative, infrastructure-agnostic way to streamline application modeling, migration and optimal management across agile pools of IT resources.”

Now, in one environment, CliQr and Cisco make it easy for IT departments to deploy and manage a broad variety of applications across vast and diverse environments. Using simple, out-of-the-box application profiles, users can easily create infrastructure-independent models of new or existing and simple or complex applications. Once modeled, CliQr and Cisco solutions work together to provide automated, end-to-end provisioning of compute, storage and ACI network configurations, along with the deployment of the application and its set of required components — including middleware and application data or packages — all in one click and onto any physical, virtual or cloud environment.

The integrated solution leads to significant efficiency gains across the full lifecycle of the application, including rapid onboarding, infrastructure portability, end-to-end runtime management, governance and performance optimization. Performance can be enhanced by driving application relevancy top-to-bottom throughout the solution. Users can tune the related infrastructure and network traffic requirements specific to the application and related use cases, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), bursting and IT-as-a-Service. The integrated solution also provides throughout the infrastructure and software stack policy-based, federated administration with granular controls that include auto-scaling, tag-based governance, access control, job prioritization, data provenance, versioning, regulatory compliance and security. All of this delivered in a single graphical dashboard, provide true end-to-end visibility and control — all in one logical environment. For more detail, view this .

Security risks continue to rise as applications are increasingly deployed and managed on and between diverse infrastructure and network environments that span multiple venues, geographies and formats. The integrated CloudCenter and ACI solution reaches new levels of application security by coupling the configuration and management of application topologies, application stack services, network configurations and settings in a single environment. This union provides end-to-end network isolation per both application deployment and individual application tier. With the two solutions working together for an application deployment, virtual machines (VMs) of each application tier are placed on a unique virtual local area network (VLAN) or virtual extensible LAN (VXLAN) with a selected network. VMs within the same VLAN/VXLAN can freely connect to each other, making cluster set-up extremely efficient. With CloudCenter and ACI, each application tier within each deployment is placed on a different VLAN/VXLAN. Based on the application–s topology, connectivity between each of these tiers is dynamically established. All communications between the application tiers are further secured with dynamic, access-control rules based on service governance requirements. This unique combination of capabilities delivers end-to-end, application topology-based network isolation and security.

“Today–s diverse, hybrid, on-premise data center and cloud-based environments require a new, application-centric approach to networking,” said Frank D–Agostino, Senior Director, Technical Marketing, INSBU, Cisco. “Ultimately, a paradigm shift for the network is required to achieve this goal — which is precisely what we did with ACI. CliQr–s CloudCenter perfectly complements ACI, and this integration dramatically simplifies end-to-end application lifecycle management, allowing our mutual customers to achieve greater business value from their applications. The integration also allows us to offer application-centric security capabilities that were not previously possible.”
