CodeGuard Offers Free Website Backup Service to SMBs

ATLANTA, GA — (Marketwired) — 06/09/15 — CodeGuard has created a new pricing plan for its online service with the goal of making website backup and monitoring accessible to every small and midsize business. The company, which has offered website backup for over five years and currently monitors more than 250,000 websites for 50,000 companies, will now offer a free version of its service along with existing paid versions. CodeGuard Free costs nothing, comes with a guarantee, and supports one site, one database and 5GB of storage per company.

According to , the vast majority of website owners don–t backup their sites. For some, the process is too complicated; for others, it–s one more cost to avoid. But nearly all agree that in an emergency, they–d pay just about anything for a restore, and without a backup service, restores can be costly, including hours of development time, lost revenue due to downtime, etc. Sources say website owners perform one restore per year on average.

CodeGuard Free is intended to help website owners get their sites up-and-running again quickly and cost-effectively. The plan includes daily automatic backup, ChangeAlert notifications and seven days of backup retention. In the event a restore is necessary, customers will pay $20 for a one-time restore or $48 for “Vault,” entitling them to 24-hour access to unlimited restores. In order to make the sign-up process as easy as possible, customers need only provide a name, email address and password — no credit card required. CodeGuard is the only company in its space to guarantee the success of its backup service.

Once the sign-up process is complete, customers will provide the URL for their website, which CodeGuard will use to perform a series of malware scans to ensure that the website is healthy and there are no known viruses in the code. After that, the customer provides the appropriate FTP/SFTP credentials. Customers also have the option to select what folder inside their FTP/SFTP directory they want to back up. If customers are not quite sure what to do here, they can simply select to “Capture All Code,” and CodeGuard will grab everything.

“If you–re looking for free website back-ups and an easy set-up process, we–re confident that CodeGuard Free is the solution for you,” says David Moeller, CEO at CodeGuard. “If you–re looking for something more fully featured, with the ability to back-up and manage multiple websites, our paid plans are always available as well. Regardless of your needs, we–re now more confident than ever that we have a plan that will work for you.”
