Allied Electronics Donates School Supplies to Battered Women-s Foundation

FORT WORTH, TX — (Marketwire) — 08/01/11 — held its fourth annual school supply drive for the Battered Women-s Foundation (BWF) from July 18-25, 2011. Approximately $1,500 worth of school supplies and monetary donations were collected from employees and one Allied supplier — Performance Reps, LLP — who donated $200 toward the cause. Several hundred children served at BWF are in need of school supplies, which are typically not included in family budgets.

“Because of Allied-s generosity, each of our children will begin school with a new backpack full of brand new school supplies,” says Linda Pavona, executive assistant at the North Richland Hills BWF location. “This makes an enormous, positive impact on a child-s morale and self-esteem. The supplies donated from Allied are very much appreciated.”

Allied-s employee council, responsible for corporate community outreach, selected the drive as one of several community outreach projects for the year. Employee council member Denise Wacker headed up the project for the third year in a row.

“I like to help because of everything the kids are going through,” says Wacker. “Knowing that I have helped, even a little, gives me tremendous satisfaction because I have made a difference in the lives of the children.”

More than 650 items were donated by employees. Top donated supplies include 95 packages of glue sticks, 81 spiral notebooks, 65 bottles of glue, 51 packages of notebook paper, 48 boxes of crayons and 43 zippered bags.
