RightScale Announces Winners of Its Spring ServerTemplate Showdown

SANTA BARBARA, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/02/11 — ., the leader in cloud computing management, today congratulated the winners of its Spring 2011 ServerTemplate Showdown. Integral R and D, So-net Entertainment Corporation, and Practical IT Consulting (PITCON) took home the top three prizes and added innovative and useful ServerTemplates to the RightScale .

The RightScale ServerTemplate methodology is fundamental to agile cloud infrastructure as it delivers the automation, abstraction and reproducibility needed to cost effectively manage cloud computing resources. RightScale ServerTemplates are completely transparent, reusable, and customizable templates for automatically configuring and dynamically provisioning cloud servers. ServerTemplates start with a base multi-cloud image and then layer in the needed applications and configurations at boot time. ServerTemplates specify in a flexible, reusable model all the software components of a cloud server, ranging from the operating system and system utilities to middleware and the application itself.

By using ServerTemplates, companies can cut costs and reduce their time to market when building cloud deployments while also maintaining the ability to customize them for their business needs and run them across multiple cloud environments — both public and private. RightScale sponsors the ServerTemplate Showdown before each RightScale User Conference to encourage its users and Systems Integrator partners to showcase their expertise and contribute to the community. RightScale evaluated all ServerTemplates submitted between October 30, 2010 to May 27, 2011 based on their originality and relevance to the RightScale community. The winners were announced at the RightScale User Conference in New York and the winning ServerTemplates are featured in the
