Intel and Cisco Join MakerCon New York as Presenting Sponsors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 08/05/15 — , the conference by Makers for Makers, welcomes back two of the biggest leaders in technology and innovation as the presenting sponsors of the annual event on September 24. This is the second year that both major brands are repeating their sponsorships, demonstrating their commitment and passion for the roles Maker Pros play in driving innovation through entrepreneurship.

This September, innovators and leaders in technology, education, manufacturing, design and creative culture will gather at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NY from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. to exchange ideas, insights and valuable discussions regarding the international impact of the Maker Movement.

“It–s exciting for Intel to be involved in the Maker Movement through Maker Faires, and it is truly inspiring to be part of the gathering of innovative minds that happens at MakerCon,” said Jay Melican, Maker Czar, Intel Corporation. “Intel is a company that was started by innovators, tinkerers, and dreamers looking to create a better future and that mentality is still at the forefront of an event like MakerCon. “Intel–s goal is to empower and inspire Makers of all ages to learn, to invent and to carry on the DIY mentality and passion for invention that is at the core of Intel–s values.”

Learning from peers, sharing and collaboration are intrinsic to the Maker community, so MakerCon provides an open forum for a diverse array of individuals. Attendees and speakers include business owners, entrepreneurs and hobbyist Makers looking to discuss ideas and philosophies about how to evolve prototypes for commercial retail, plus other business solutions related to design, manufacturing, distribution and marketing. In addition to the Maker community, additional attendees include investors, incubators and accelerators, entrepreneurs launching new startups and Maker Pros.

“Cisco is committed to empowering Makers and Global Problem Solvers to thrive in the digital economy,” said Harbrinder Kang, Cisco Vice President of Corporate Affairs. “Events like MakerCon inspire us all to make new connections to accelerate the pace of change in shaping a more sustainable future to benefit both people and society.
