Dtex Systems Appoints Federal Cybersecurity Leader and Former Department of Defense CISO Robert Lentz to Board of Directors

SAN JOSE, CA — (Marketwired) — 09/23/15 — , a global insider threat protection company, today announced the appointment of Robert Lentz to the company–s board of directors. Lentz, a distinguished cyber security expert who served as the first Chief Information Security Officer for the Department of Defense (DoD), will provide strategic guidance to Dtex drawn from his 35 years of experience leading federal government cybercrime and information assurance efforts. Dtex has also expanded its strategic advisory board with the addition of data scientists Monica Rogati and Nitin Sharma, who will bring tremendous expertise in data analytics and product development.

While serving as CISO for the DoD, Lentz also acted as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber, Identity and Information Assurance (CIIA) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Networks and Information Integration/Chief Information Officer. He has chaired the National Space INFOSEC Steering Council, was a principal member of the Presidential Sub-Committee on National Security Systems and a member of the DoD CIO Executive Council. In 2004, Lentz received the highest level honorary award the Department of Defense can bestow on a civilian employee — the prestigious Secretary of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award. As President at Cyber Security Strategies, he currently consults with commercial and government enterprises worldwide to help them better manage their cyber security risk. Lentz will play a vital role in helping Dtex better serve its growing base of federal government customers.

“The endpoint has traditionally created a big challenge for CISOs and their teams, but perimeter solutions in isolation are no longer enough to defend organizations from damaging cyber security breaches,” said Lentz. “Dtex has cracked the code to insider threat protection, and I–m confident that the company–s –trust but verify– approach will revolutionize the way enterprises secure the endpoint without compromising employee privacy.”

“Bob–s depth of cybersecurity experience at the federal level will make him an invaluable source of wisdom and a huge asset on the board of directors,” said Mohan Koo, CEO and co-founder of Dtex Systems. “Additionally, Monica and Nitin will provide crucial insight to help us tackle the challenge of creating behavioral analytics solutions that can drive new value for our customers across vertical industries, enabling them to use that visibility to make smarter business decisions.”

With the most lightweight, scalable and privacy-compliant insider threat solution available on the market, Dtex is rapidly expanding its customer base. Rogati and Sharma, both experienced data scientists, will help Dtex unlock the power of its unique behavioral analytics to solve both new and existing security, HR and IT related challenges for its customers.

Monica Rogati is a world-class data scientist with a passion for turning data into products, actionable insights and meaningful stories. She has been named one of Fast Company–s 100 most creative people in business, and a 2014 Big Data All-Star by Fortune Magazine.

Nitin Sharma built and led the data science team at Groupon, transforming the company from its early days as a raw but rapidly growing startup into a world-class, data driven organization. Over the past decade, he has worked to find interesting behavioral patterns across hundreds of millions of users to improve user experience, optimize data-driven algorithms, data analytics and predictive modeling, and ultimately help to shape larger business strategy. He previously led the engineering and data science team at Udacity, and was a leading data scientist at both Google and Yahoo!.

With proven success in EMEA and APAC, Dtex recently relocated its corporate headquarters to Silicon Valley to support its rapid growth throughout the U.S. market. The company has spent 15 years developing the market–s most lightweight and privacy-compliant endpoint security micro-agent. This unique technology gives enterprises an unmatched view into activity across the organization to quickly and effectively mitigate threats ranging from intellectual property theft, attacks launched by malicious insiders with access to internal systems, compromised credentials and accidental disclosure of sensitive materials by employees.

“In the quest to build security awareness across organizations, Dtex is well-positioned to become a great enabler of intelligent business decision making. I look forward to working closely with the executive team to discover and share what the endpoint data is telling us.”
-Monica Rogati

“Turning raw data into actionable insights typically requires a large analytic investment by an organization. Dtex is in a unique position to help enterprises learn how they truly operate simply by deploying an innovative security tool. If the same tool that can prevent the loss of valuable data can also reveal where you–re misallocating funds to pay for 50 program licenses when you only need 10, that–s a win-win.”
-Nitin Sharma
