Ran Around the World Three Times With a PDA

In February 2007 athletes from all over the world installed the newly released sports software “Run.GPS” on their PDAs and Smartphones. Using a built-in GPS device this software makes it possible for runners, cyclists, hikers and other sports people to navigate off the beaten track. Since the first release users have covered more than 78000 miles with a Run.GPS enabled PDA – this equals more than three times around the earth. This number includes only the training sessions uploaded to the www.GPS-Sport.net portal website. In total more than 1.5 million miles have been covered.

According to German based manufacturer eSymetric GmbH, Run.GPS can be used by Windows Pocket PC or Smartphone owners provided an internal or external GPS device is available. Particularly useful are modern lightweight PDAs that come with complete equipment including camera, WiFi and MP3 player. With Run.GPS software, these devices can be turned into navigator, training analyzer, training planner and a tool for uploading to portal websites such as www.GPSies.com and www.GPS-Sport.net.

Run.GPS software licences can be obtained for prices starting at USD 33.99. A free 14 days trial can be downloaded from http://www.RunGPS.net.
