SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 10/27/15 — , the developer platform for communications, today announced the global availability of Authy OneTouch, a powerful security technology that reliably authenticates with a simple push notification. The increasing frequency of data breaches and online attacks demonstrate that passwords, PINs, security questions or other knowledge-based methods of authentication are not enough. Consumers and businesses alike need a better solution for protecting their digital identities. Authy OneTouch provides this solution by enabling consumers to simply “approve” or “deny” actions and logins via push notifications on authorized mobile devices. Developers can rapidly implement the easy-to-use Authy OneTouch to reliably authenticate both users and in-app transactions, such as money transfers, changes in account settings or credit card purchases.

According to Gartner Analysts Mark Diodati and Trent Henry, “Mobile push authentication (aka “OOB push”) improves usability and identity assurance compared with mobile OTP apps and OTP hardware tokens. Users are not required to type long passcodes, and because the core authentication process occurs outside the access channel, man-in-the-middle attacks are significantly reduced.” (Source: Gartner report “Enterprise Adaptive Access: Are We There Yet?”, September 12, 2015)

Authy OneTouch provides information about what is being authorized in the form of the confirmation request the user receives, including transaction amount, log-in location and approval chain, all of which become part of the digitally signed record of the transaction.

“If someone is determined to breach your account, it–s painfully clear that security based on passwords alone is not going to protect you,” said Marc Boroditsky, Vice President and GM of the Authy product line. “Two-factor authentication solutions such as Authy OneTouch greatly reduce existing vulnerabilities while maximizing the experience for the mobile user.”

For Coinbase, a leading bitcoin wallet and exchange that serves over 2 million users, Authy is the preferred and most secure solution. “Authy helps us protect our users when they access their accounts. We are excited about the ease of use OneTouch brings and we can–t wait to deploy it,” said Brian Armstrong, Founder and CEO of Coinbase.
