Beyond Life-Streaming: videmic launches its ad-hoc video app at SXSW Interactive

Berlin, February 3, 2016. The Berlin-based startup videmic GmbH has been selected as a finalist for the ReleaseIt pitch competition at SXSW Interactive in Austin, TX in the US. “As the only European company, we feel deeply honored for getting the opportunity to launch the videmic app at the prestigious SXSW ReleaseIt pitch competition”, CEO Silvia Wallner says. The ReleaseIt pitch competition takes place on the opening day, Friday, March 11 of the SXSW Interactive Festival.
videmic is a social video app as Meerkat, Periscope, or Vine, though, videmic works without Internet. Thus, with videmic, you can watch your HD videos everywhere as often as you like and instantly share them with others nearby. Without data usage! videmic transmits videos from device-to-device when users with matching hashtags meet, even if they have their smartphones in their pockets. This is ad-hoc video sharing.
videmic is particularly well suited for being deployed at music or film events like SXSW. This is because videmic allows musicians, film producers, and sports event organizers to distribute promotional videos to the audience during the event. After the event, each one of the crowd will be further distributing the videos received earlier to other videmic users with matching hashtags, wherever they go. That is not only everywhere in the city of the event, but also everywhere in their hometowns after the event. Thus, videmic can not only be utilized for proximity marketing, but also for viral marketing!
The videmic app is currently available for early bird users as private BETA in Google Play.
