PeerApp Announces Availability of Mobile Edge Computing Solution

BARCELONA, SPAIN — (Marketwired) — 02/16/16 — PeerApp, the market leader in helping operators accelerate delivery of streaming video and other Internet content, announces the availability of its MEC-compliant edge-based OpenCache solution. Fully virtualized OpenCache hosts and accelerates delivery of mobile video and other content based at the Mobile Network Edge, either at backhaul aggregation points or in the RAN.

PeerApp–s OpenCache solution enhances end-user quality of experience and increases RAN utilization, saving 20-25% on backhaul traffic and expenses, while supporting edge-based, mobile content monetization.

“Streaming video consumption, a main driver of mobile traffic growth, is straining mobile networks,” commented Chief Executive Officer, Gadi Tamari. “As a leader in content-aware acceleration and service delivery optimization, it was a natural evolution of our portfolio to bring content hosting and acceleration –to the edge–. In addition to improving end-user quality of experience, PeerApp–s solution is instrumental in the reduction of mobile backhaul congestion, providing Mobile Network Operators with cost savings and generating monetization opportunities.”
