Niara Delivers Support for Gigamon Metadata Engine

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — (Marketwired) — 02/29/16 — , a provider of security analytics for attack detection and incident response, today announced its platform supports Gigamon Metadata Engine, a new feature in the GigaSECURE® Security Delivery Platform (SDP). With this integration, data supplied by the SDP, as well by an organization–s security infrastructure, is analyzed by Niara–s security analytics platform using machine learning algorithms, analytics and forensics. This enables security analysts to expedite the time it takes to detect compromised users, hosts and malicious insiders while simultaneously speeding threat hunting efforts and reducing incident investigation and response time, focusing them on the threats that matter.

The SDP optimizes and generates enriched metadata, including NetFlow and IP information export (IPFIX) from packet-level traffic across physical and virtual networks. Niara takes this data, along with logs, alerts and external threat feeds, and analyzes it to drive triage, investigation and response processes without the need for specialized packet processors.

“Through our partnership and integration with Gigamon, Niara is able to easily interface with the GigaSECURE Security Delivery Platform, providing security analysts with the additional network context needed to detect attacks inside an environment,” said Sriram Ramachandran, CEO and co-founder of Niara. “By aggregating packet-level data from SDP, Niara delivers the most comprehensive visibility through risk profiles for users, hosts and devices with user-attribution for IP and MAC addresses to tackle attacks on the inside.”

Niara delivers user and entity behavioral analytics (UEBA) using any data source, including network packet and flow data, combined with behavior analytics capabilities for log data to generate more accurate entity risk profiles. The Niara security analytics platform provides the most comprehensive solution available for detecting cyber attacks inside an organization.

“We are excited to partner with Niara to provide our joint customers with the ability to conduct better security analytics,” said Phil Griston, director, alliances and business development of Gigamon. “The GigaSECURE Metadata Engine gives Niara important network context so that their security analytics platform can validate the conclusions of the analytics and quickly enable a remediation plan.”

Niara–s security analytics platform automates the detection of attacks that have bypassed an organization–s perimeter defenses and dramatically reduces the time and skill needed to investigate and respond to security events. The solution applies machine learning algorithms and forensics to data from the network and security infrastructure to detect compromised users, entities, and malicious insiders, speed threat hunting efforts, and reduce the time for incident investigation and response by focusing security teams on the threats that matter. Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif., the company is backed by NEA, Index Ventures and Venrock. For more information, visit .
