CacheFly Deploys Varnish Plus to Support Scalability at High Performance Levels

OSLO, NORWAY and LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM and STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN and PARIS, FRANCE and NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwired) — 03/15/16 — Varnish Software, , today announced that CacheFly, the fastest throughput Content Delivery Network (CDN), has deployed Varnish Plus to support scalability at high performance levels and to deploy new in-demand features. With Varnish Plus, CacheFly has gained operational efficiencies and maintained its 100 percent service level commitment to customers, many of whom have massive caches in excess of 100TB.

Although CacheFly had considered the open source Varnish Cache, its storage engine was insufficient to support the CacheFly workload. Varnish Plus and its Massive Storage Engine, however, delivered what CacheFly required. In addition, CacheFly is taking advantage of Varnish Configuration Language (VCL) to quickly respond to customer demand for new features.

With Varnish Plus, CacheFly has achieved the following:

– enabled CacheFly to maintain 100 percent transparency and availability throughout the migration process for all its customers, ensuring that all existing CDN functionality was preserved and that additional caching functionality was deployed without interruption to service;

– supports massive caches (100TB+) with tens of millions of object sizes across all ranges so that end users can scale work seamlessly without interruptions;

— Assists hundreds of origins from both HTTP and HTTPS, and mixed based on edge request;

– Allows CacheFly to respond to customer demand and easily develop and customize new features and modules within minutes, not days, by using VCL.

“CacheFly–s big differentiator in the CDN market has always been our ability to deliver the fastest throughput for the fastest customer experience on a worldwide, 24×7 basis,” said Matt Levine, CTO at CacheFly. “Varnish Plus has allowed CacheFly to continue to be the throughput leader while offering the industry–s best SLA, all while also providing the tools to seamlessly add innovative new features in response to customer demand.”

“When it needed to scale operations without compromising on its reputation for delivering the fastest throughput in the CDN services industry, CacheFly turned to Varnish Plus,” said Per Buer, founder and CTO, Varnish Software. “The ultra-high performance of Varnish Plus is a perfect match for CacheFly–s extremely demanding customers.”
