Seculert Unveils First Ever Attack Simulator for Web Gateways

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwired) — 03/17/16 — Seculert, the leader in attack detection and analytics, today announced Javelin, the industry–s first outbound attack simulator. Javelin allows security professionals to determine how well their secure web gateways (SWG), next-generation firewalls, and proxies prevent the latest, real-world malware attacks from communicating with their perpetrator–s command and control servers.

New from Seculert found that the most popular web gateways remain susceptible to attacks, having allowed more than 40 percent of malicious communications to succeed in 2015. Seculert analyzed over 200 billion communications from Fortune 1000 companies in North America and found nearly 5 million attempted malicious outbound communications attempting to exfiltrate data were from infected devices. To arm organizations against these attacks, Seculert launched the industry–s first test to offer unparalleled visibility into how SWG and proxy solutions are performing.

“These findings reveal alarming holes in perimeter defenses, leaving organizations exposed to the effects of the most advanced malware,” said Richard Greene, Seculert CEO. “In today–s threat landscape, the ability to simulate the latest, real-world attacks and measure the efficacy of web gateway response is one of the keys to maintaining an effective security posture. With Javelin, enterprises will know, for the first time ever, how their perimeter defenses will perform in the face of the most malicious attacks we see in the wild each day.”

While using no actual malware, the Javelin simulator replicates the latest and most dangerous attacks on an organization–s gateway through individual attack communications simulations. Javelin provides instant results, and then allows users to acquire a gateway update package. The update package contains details about the simulated attacks, a license to run unlimited attack simulations, and fixes to update the enterprise–s gateway solutions in order to contain the attacks should live attacks present themselves.

Seculert Javelin has been in a closed beta test for two months. Current users have found it not only highlights their own security exposures, but also gives them a tool to assess how well their business partners are protecting their intellectual property. “Now I can easily see what kind of vulnerabilities my business partners are potentially creating for us, and help them to resolve those issues,” said Richard Rushing, Motorola Mobility CISO.

Javelin requires no hardware or software for installation, and is available immediately. Access to the Javelin attack simulator is available .

Seculert is the leader in attack detection and analytics. Delivered via the cloud, Seculert combines machine learning-based analytics and threat intelligence to automatically detect cyber attacks inside the network, revealing exactly which devices and users are compromised. For the first time, CISOs can test, measure and prove the effectiveness of their existing threat prevention systems, all without deploying additional staff, hardware or software. Organizations worldwide use Seculert to identify known and unknown security threats, while enhancing the effectiveness of their IT security investments. Founded in 2010, Seculert has offices in the U.S., the U.K., and Israel. For more information, visit.
