Wowza Media Systems to Showcase the Latest in Video Streaming Technology and Discuss Industry Trends at NAB Show 2016

GOLDEN, CO — (Marketwired) — 04/13/16 — , the leading software and cloud-based services provider that continuously simplifies the complexities of high-quality video and audio streaming for organizations worldwide, today announced its presence at the , set to take place April 16-21, 2016 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. In addition to Wowza executives leading speaking sessions focused on crucial industry trends — multicast video distribution and live streaming infrastructures — Wowza will also showcase virtual reality, 360-degree streaming and live event workflows in conjunction with VideoStitch and Teradek hosted on Microsoft Azure.

Together, Wowza and VideoStitch will demonstrate a powerful workflow content producers can implement to stream virtual reality and 360-degree video.

VideoStitch offers proven interoperability for real-time, 4k video stitching and combined with Wowza Streaming Engine and its ability transcode video to accelerate distribution to any device, customers can deliver 4K-quality, 360-degree video with unprecedented quality, performance and speed.

“Virtual reality and 360-degree video are the hottest trends. In the past three months, we have demonstrated the power of video streaming with Wowza Streaming Engine and VideoStitch at several high-profile events like CES,” said Aksel Piran, COO at VideoStitch. “We are excited to continue working with Wowza to deliver a quality solution that is at the forefront of these trends.”

In conjunction with YouTube, Wowza will be one of the first companies to demo new live streaming capabilities by pushing live streams to YouTube Live using VP9 video compression and dynamic streaming with MPEG-DASH. VP9 and DASH enable optimal HTML5 video playback, which continues to advance as an industry standard playback mechanism. This new capability in Wowza Streaming Engine adds additional live stream publishing support, in addition to RTMP, to YouTube.

“Google and WebM are committed to open standards for video compression, and VP9 allows improved video quality to over two billion end points,” said Matt Frost, head of partnership and strategy at Google Chrome Media. “The addition of VP9 live streaming to the Wowza product family fills out their support for WebM codecs, and gives powerful and flexible VP9 encoding options to the video community.”

Wowza and Teradek will come together to create a best-of-breed streaming workflow for the annual NAB Live Show. The live stream is a public service for all who cannot attend the exposition in person, offering in-depth interviews with exhibitors, panel discussions about the industry–s most pressing topics and new product demonstrations. To deliver the best quality live streaming for one of the largest tradeshows, Teradek chose to partner with Wowza for its industry-leading technology and capabilities.

By connecting Teradek Cube encoders to Wowza Streaming Engine server software hosted on Azure, customers can reliably stream live content to any device around the world. Wowza ensures that end users have access to the highest quality live video across desktops and smartphones regardless of bandwidth availability.
