Big Switch Networks Appoints Mike Hoffman as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Chief Revenue Officer

SANTA CLARA, CA — (Marketwired) — 06/13/16 — Big Switch Networks®, the leader in bringing hyperscale-inspired networking to data centers worldwide, today announced it has appointed Mike Hoffman as Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Chief Revenue Officer.

Hoffman joins Big Switch with extensive experience in driving growth and capturing market share in disruptive and highly complex industries. Throughout his career, Hoffman has been widely recognized as a leader in the buildout of global sales teams.

“I am pleased to welcome Mike to the Big Switch team,” said Douglas Murray, CEO, Big Switch Networks. “Mike joins us at a critical time in our evolution. He has a proven track record and is not only well-versed in global market share capture, but also channel strategy, both key to the continued growth and expansion of our company.”

Most recently Hoffman held the role of EVP of Sales and Marketing at cybersecurity startup Datiphy. Prior to Datiphy, Hoffman spent more than six years at Gigamon, where the majority of his tenure was as Vice President of Worldwide Sales. During his time with the company he was instrumental in growing revenues from $20M to $140M and was integral to the company–s 2013 IPO.

While at Gigamon, Hoffman captured 66 of the Fortune 100, nurtured Gigamon–s top 25 high-profile customers to reach a $4.4M median install per account. Hoffman executed a defensive selling method to protect acquired customers from competitors. Within one year, Gigamon–s top 25 customers had installed 21X the initial purchase price. This system was instituted globally and today that gauge is 80X, indicating $1B in potential lifetime value to realize from existing customers.

Hoffman is a Gulf War Veteran, having begun his career with the U.S. Navy, where he served for eight years. During his active duty Hoffman was assigned to the Advanced Electronics Field and later served as an instructor in the Navy–s Combat Systems Technical Schools Command, where he developed curriculum and taught Navy and Marine personnel. During his time with the U.S. Navy, Hoffman was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal by the Secretary of the Navy, and received Letters of Commendation from both the Secretary of the Navy and Carrier Group Commander.

“I–m thrilled to join Big Switch at a pivotal time and to play an integral role in the next phase of the company–s growth,” said Mike Hoffman, Vice President of Worldwide Sales & CRO, Big Switch Networks. “Big Switch has caught the attention of the industry and I jumped at the opportunity to use my experience to help the company develop new revenue opportunities through geographic and channel expansion and strategic leadership.”

In early 2016 Big Switch announced $48.5M Series C funding, which included participation from both new and existing investors. Big Switch now has multiple customer deals in excess of $1M+, customers are based across the US, APAC and EMEA regions, in verticals including tech, financial services, government, telecom, and higher education.
