Office for National Statistics (ONS) announces migration to Oracle Cloud Applications and selects Certus Solutions as Implementation Partner

The ONS is pleased to announce that it has entered into a partnership with Certus Solutions to implement Oracle’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud Applications. This is the first complete Oracle Cloud suite implementation across Her Majesty’s (HM) Government.

The ONS current ERP system Oracle E-Business Release 11 is an ageing product which has only minimal sustaining support. As a consequence the organisation requires a modern ERP system to help drive significant improvements to their financial management and enable a deeper granular level understanding of the cost of its workforce, investments and underlying cost drivers.

The project is an exciting opportunity for the organisations staff, with those involved being able to learn new skills in digital cloud-based solutions thereby building in-house capability for the future.

Certus Solutions, an Oracle® Platinum Partner and leading implementer of Oracle Cloud Services for Finance, Procurement, HR and Payroll operations, is a highly specialised consultancy who have a rich Oracle pedigree and heritage and believe the future is in the Oracle Cloud. They are committed to making the ONS successful and that the many benefits available are realised ensuring significant cost savings are delivered.

Certus Solutions has a long proven track record working within central government having undertaken work for Ministry of Justice, National Offender Management Services, Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions, Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Cabinet Office and Civil Service HR, with its founders being the original programme team behind the award winning HM Prison Service Phoenix Shared Services Programme. Certus Solutions are advocates within central government of the deployment of Oracle Cloud supporting the HM Government’s digitalisation and Next Generation Shared Services agenda.

Paul Layland, Director of Finance, Office for National Statistics said “Strong financial management is more important than ever across the Civil Service and I believe this solution will rapidly move us towards alignment with some of the outcomes from HM Treasury’s Financial Management review. Work is already underway on the Oracle Cloud with a target implementation of October 2016. I have been impressed with the engagement and commitment to the project by Certus Solutions and look forward to working with them over the next few months.”

Mark Sweeny, Chief Executive, Certus Solutions said “Certus has undoubtedly established itself as the leading Oracle ERP and HCM partner in the UK with over 25 cloud customers, 20 successful live implementations to date, with a further 5 major implementations in progress and is able to count some of the UK’s leading brand names as its customers. This engagement is an absolute first for central government and the ONS and Certus Team are leading the way with back office digital transformation in line with the government’s digital agenda through the implementation of Oracle ERP and HCM Cloud. The benefits available to government departments adopting Oracle Cloud solutions are significant and I know the team and I are looking forward to being part of this story by educating and sharing our knowledge and experiences over time with other government departments”.

Since the start of our partnership, Certus is underway with ONS’ Oracle Cloud implementation for HR and Finance. Watch our video highlights of their journey so far – click here: https://youtu.be/Ht_QMqNQNYs
