London – 17th March 2017 – UKCloud, the easy to adopt, easy to use and easy to leave assured cloud services company, discussed the company’s rapid growth, plans for further investment and recruitment, and its ongoing focus on technical innovation, with local Aldershot MP, Sir Gerald Howarth.
During his visit to UKCloud’s headquarters in Farnborough, Sir Gerald learnt about the local business’s commitment to the public sector, and heard how it is actively supporting the digitisation of public services. A socially responsible organisation, UKCloud explained its continued commitment to its investment in the local area and its charitable giving.
“UKCloud is a highly successful and industry-leading technology firm, which is generating growth within my constituency through its innovative and important work,” Sir Gerald Howarth MP commented. “The company is actively giving back to UK citizens, not only by helping public sector organisations to transform services, but by creating a large number of new jobs and opportunities for local people.”
The meeting between UKCloud and Sir Gerald provided an opportunity for UKCloud to set out its plans to build on the successes of 2016. The company is currently conducting a comprehensive recruitment drive, which will help support its next phase of growth through the creation of a significant number of new roles, in addition to 14 student placement roles.
“We were delighted to host Sir Gerald at UKCloud and hope this visit will be the first of many conversations around how government and industry can work together to further the progression of the UK technology sector,” said UKCloud CEO, Simon Hansford.
The newly launched Government Digital Strategy recently outlined the need for greater skills to further the burgeoning UK digital sector. UKCloud is investing in home-grown talent by working with universities and is welcoming their next wave of undergraduate students into its business this summer. Additionally, UKCloud is looking at ways of working with schools and colleges to develop STEM talent and apprenticeships.
Sir Gerald Howarth welcomed this, adding: “It’s encouraging to see a rapidly growing business such as UKCloud contributing to the local economy by opening its doors to talent in the area. UKCloud is a credit to the expanding UK technology sector, and its growth is adding to the country’s position as a world leading Digital economy.”
UKCloud recently announced further channel partner recruitment for G-Cloud 9, which will support IT companies seeking to break into the UK public sector market. This contributes further to UKCloud’s objective to keep government computing open, avoiding vendor ‘lock in’ and giving government flexibility and an opportunity to respond to change.
