iSwifter Scales Up With Engineering Talent as First-Year Revenues Set to Exceed $10 Million in 2011

BURLINGAME, CA — (Marketwire) — 08/22/11 — iSwifter, the YouWeb-incubated company founded by former Symantec executive Rajat Gupta, that pioneered the streaming of Flash-based interactive applications on iOS, today announced the company is on track to deliver revenues in excess of $10 million in its first year as a business.

In addition, iSwifter announced that Ajit Mayya, former Sr. Director of Engineering at VMware, will guide iSwifter-s expansion as it adds dozens more engineers to meet the growing demand for its products and services. Ajit will be joined this week by new hires including Lucian Masalar, an architect from eBay, and Pankaj Kumar, previously at Microsoft, to kick off the recruiting process. Jobs available at iSwifter are described at .

“Ajit has been a key executive at multiple start-ups and his experience at VMware, the technology leader in systems virtualization with a $40 billion market cap, is going to be totally awesome for us,” say Rajat Gupta and Rohan Relan co-founders of iSwifter. “With Ajit on board, we are building a world-class engineering team and will broaden the company-s streaming offerings beyond Flash applications to become the -Netflix of Applications.-“

Prior to joining iSwifter, Ajit helped create the cloud technologies in the VMware Cloud and Infrastructure Management Division including the first version of VMware vCenter API, the vCenter management platform as well as award-winning products like VMware Site Recovery Manager and VMware vCloud Director.

“Ajit Mayya is a seasoned entrepreneur and executive and a great win for iSwifter as it meets the business opportunities and demand for Flash and non-Flash applications to be streamed to mobile devices,” says Peter Relan, Executive Chairman of iSwifter. “Ajit joins iSwifter as our revenues in our first year are on track to exceed Zynga-s revenues in its second year of operations, so we are preparing to scale up the company with dozens of engineers under Ajit-s leadership.”

A recent analysis of customer traffic through the iSwifter social games portal has revealed that consumers are not waiting for Facebook, or its social game publishers like Zynga, to launch iPad versions of popular Flash-based games such as “CityVille” or “Empires & Allies.” In fact, iSwifter found many users are willing to pay for otherwise free games if they can be played on the iPad. Hundreds of thousands of iSwifter users have spent millions of minutes on Facebook with nearly half making In-App Purchases.

“Streaming Flash applications for mobile is just the beginning for iSwifter,” says Ajit Mayya. “Users want instant access to their content and applications regardless of the device they are using: be it music, video or iSwifter based applications streamed over WiFi and 3G/4G networks.”

iSwifter, based in Burlingame, CA, is the world-s first cloud-based content streaming platform built specifically for mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, including iOS and Android. The company is focused on using advanced cloud technology to optimize casual and social rich-media Flash games to the mobile environment. iSwifter-s cloud platform gives game developers “instant-on” capability in bringing their existing Flash and non-Flash games to mobile without any redevelopment effort.
