Court Enters Final Judgment in SynQor Patent Litigation

BOXBOROUGH, MA — (Marketwire) — 08/24/11 — SynQor today announced that the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Texas has entered final judgment in the matter SynQor, Inc. v. Artesyn Technologies, Inc., et al., Civil Action No. 2:07-CV-497-TJW-CE.

In this action SynQor brought suit against eleven of the largest industry suppliers of unregulated and semi-regulated bus converters used in Intermediate Bus Architecture applications. SynQor alleged that each of these eleven competitors were infringing one or more of five patents owned by SynQor. In December 2010, a jury agreed and awarded SynQor more than $95M in damages. That amount was later supplemented by an additional damage award of more than $17M. In entering final judgment on August 18, the Court also awarded SynQor more than $1.45M in pre-judgment interest, awarded post-judgment interest at the statutory rate and denied the defendants- many motions seeking to set aside the jury verdict.

The defendants in the case are Artesyn Technologies, Inc., Astec America, Inc., Bel Fuse Inc., Cherokee International Corp., Delta Electronics, Inc., Delta Products Corp., Lineage Power Corp., Murata Elec. North America, Inc., Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Murata Power Solutions Inc., and Power-One, Inc.

SynQor-s patents at issue in the lawsuit are U.S. Patent Nos. 7,072,190, 7,272,021, 7,558,083, 7,564,702 and 7,269,034.

SynQor President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Martin F. Schlecht, commented: “We are very pleased that the Court upheld the jury verdict and denied the defendants- requests for a new trial and other post-trial motions. We are confident that this award will also be upheld in the event of any appeal.”

Inquiries concerning the foregoing should be directed to Arthur R. Hofmann, Jr., SynQor-s Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
