REDWOOD CITY, CA — (Marketwire) — 09/01/11 — Lucid Imagination, the commercial company for Apache Lucene and Apache Solr search technology, announced today that the full program and agenda has been posted for Apache Lucene EuroCon Barcelona 2011. “Without question, the committers who are building the software used by Lucene/Solr application developers worldwide thrive on the challenge of showing their work to the broadest possible audience at Apache Lucene Eurocon,” said Simon Willnauer, chair of the Apache Lucene, PMC. “I never cease to be amazed by the things that people all over the world are doing to test, improve, and build on open source search.” Willnauer is one of about a dozen Apache Lucene committers and PMC members attending the conference; he will speak about the future challenges and opportunities in Apache Lucene 4.0.

“Now that data has escaped the database, it-s become increasingly obvious that open source search represents the best hope for broad-based innovation and adoption new, more cost-effective ways of turning that torrid data growth into value,” said Peter Tait, chief marketing officer at Lucid Imagination, which presents Apache Lucene EuroCon. “The big deal about big data is in making that data useful to as many people as possible. Apache Lucene EuroCon gives the people who build the applications to make that data useful direct exposure to those who build the search platform they run it on. The result is that the best ideas win — and open source ensures that any organization can tap into that innovation frictionlessly.”

Two-day, accelerated training workshop intensives also precede the October 19-20 conference, featuring introductory and intermediate classes in Solr application development, and trainings in Lucene development, big data/Hadoop, and LucidWorks Enterprise.
