KDDI America Hosts Event on Cyber Threats — Building a Case for Network and Mobile Security in the Enterprise

NEW YORK, NY — (Marketwire) — 09/09/11 — KDDI America Inc., the U.S. division of KDDI CORPORATION, a Global Fortune 500 company and worldwide leader in international telecommunications services, announced today that they will be hosting an event dedicated to Exploring Network and Mobile Security at their newest Data Center in downtown Manhattan at 85 10th Avenue in New York, NY. KDDI America will host the event along with keynote speakers, Michael Legary from Seccuris, Inc. and Troy Vennon from Juniper Networks. The event will be held on Thursday, September 22nd from 8:30AM-11:30AM.

The content of the presentations will focus on Cyber Threats — Why all organizations are at risk and how to minimize the impact global cyber threats have on business. “Overall the threat activity has evolved over the past few years. The operational risks that have been created by these threats and their impact can no longer be minimized and placed on the back burner of your business- strategy,” said Michael Legary, Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Seccuris, Inc. ().

Michael-s presentation will provide a deeper understanding of how cyber intelligence has evolved and more importantly, how the intention of threat activity, on a global scale, is being culturally legitimized as a feasible way to garner intelligence. By attending this session, you will gain the knowledge required to educate both you and your organization on the threats of cyber security and understand what steps you can take to ensure your organization is protected.

Juniper Networks- Troy Vennon, the Director of the Global Threat Center (), will focus on the current state of mobile security. With the widespread adoption of smartphones there are now dramatic changes associated with the actual usage of mobile devices — downloading applications to increase productivity and providing entertainment; mobile online banking and commerce; and, mobile devices that store amounts of data equal to those of laptop computers. In essence, smartphone devices have become the new personal computer, with one important differentiator. While most personal computers come equipped with anti-virus and other endpoint security software, the vast majority of mobile devices perform the same functions, devoid of security protection.

Troy Vennon will present the current state of mobile security in the workplace based on research conducted by the Global Threat Center. Specific information will be provided to address the vectors of exploitation relating to mobile devices, including: malware, direct attacks; loss and theft; and data communications interception; and exploitation and misconduct.
