Pipeline Monitoring Group Secures Major Investment

MORGES, SWITZERLAND — (Marketwire) — 09/13/11 — Omnisens, a leader in continuous, systems for pipelines, has received substantial investment from SVC Ltd., an investment vehicle fully owned by Credit Suisse.

-Given their success in the most demanding projects from Alaska to the Andes, it was clear that Omnisens provide a much needed solution to help ensure the safe and efficient transport of oil and gas- said Andreas Koopmann, Chairman of the Investment Committee of SVC.

Examples of the assets which Omnisens systems are monitoring include a 60 km (37 miles) section of the 408 km (253 miles) Peru LNG pipeline, where Omnisens Ditest geotechnical monitoring and leak detection form part of the pipeline integrity management system, monitoring both strain and temperature change. Omnisens- Ditest Aim detects and locates any strain events on the pipeline to within a meter, indicating possible ground movement.

The system can also detect a temperature change of 1 degrees C (33.8 degrees F) at every meter along the entire 60 km (37 miles) length monitored, giving early indication of an adverse event, such as gas leaks and its exact location. This allows the operator to take quick action providing information on exactly where to send the inspection team, if needed, to gather further information and make necessary repairs.

To mitigate the risk of leaks and ensure flow assurance the Omnisens Ditest continuously monitors the temperature of insulated and heated flowlines and pipelines in Alaska, the North Sea and other locations around the world.

The accuracy and long distance capabilities of Omnisens (over 50 km (31 miles) from a single interrogator) also makes it ideal for monitoring load management and conditions of subsea cables serving offshore windfarms.

Trademarks: Ditest and Ditest Aim are trademarks of Omnisens.
