Suntron Corporation Celebrates Suntron de Mexico 30th Anniversary Event

PHOENIX, AZ — (Marketwire) — 10/20/11 — Suntron Corporation, an industry leader of electronics manufacturing services and embedded computing solutions, announced they celebrated their 30th anniversary on October 14th, 2011, at their Tijuana, Mexico manufacturing facility. Present for the ceremony were Suntron executives and employees, along with Tijuana, San Diego, and Baja California officials.

Tijuana is the site of a 79,000 sq. ft. Suntron manufacturing facility, which offers high mix, high reliability electronics manufacturing services. Since opening in 2005, the facility has specialized in printed circuit card assembly, cable and harnesses and complete system integration. Today, Suntron de Mexico employs over 400 people, 46 of which have been with the company since the first facility was purchased in 1999.

The day opened with speeches from Ed Wheeler, Suntron Corporation President and CEO; Lic. Miguel Velasco, Secretary of Economic Development of Tijuana, who spoke on behalf of Carlos Bustamante Anchondo, Tijuana City Mayor; and Rod Gunther, Suntron de Mexico Plant Manager. The three men highlighted the importance of Suntron-s employees, customers, suppliers, and surroundings in making the company an industry leader over the past three decades. The presidium speeches ended with Norma Lomeli, President, presenting Suntron with an award of excellence from the Tijuana Maquiladora Association.

“On this very special occasion we acknowledged the many contributions which Suntron de Mexico has made in behalf of our city as well as region,” stated Lic. Miguel Velasco on behalf of Tijuana Mayor Carlos Bustamante. “Be assured that the City Government shall continue doing its part to help the company grow and prosper as well as the aerospace industry and guarantee that our community keeps the same pace in behalf of the community.”

As part of the anniversary celebration, Mr. Rod Gunther, Suntron de Mexico Plant Manager & other Suntron executives, gave the guests a tour of the facility highlighting Suntron de Mexico-s strengths in the aerospace/defense, medical and industrial industries. Food, fun and a mariachi band completed the event as the band played Happy Birthday to Suntron in true Mexican style.

Other members of the presidium included Alejandro Mungaray Lagarda, Baja California State Economic Development Secretary; Renato Sandoval Franco, Baja California State Labor & Social Provision Secretary; Ms. Christina Anne Luhn, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation Director of Development; Jose David Ledezma Torres, Autonomous University of Baja California Vice-president; Jose Guerrero Guerrero, Tijuana Technology Institute Director; Norma Yael Lomeli, Tijuana Maquiladora Industry Association President.
