Eight Brandery Companies Graduate

CINCINNATI, OH — (Marketwire) — 10/24/11 — The Brandery, a consumer marketing seed accelerator program, on Tuesday will introduce its eight graduating startup companies to more than 300 investors, partners and fellow entrepreneurs on Demo Day at Great American Ball Park.

The eight startups, which came from all over the world, began at The Brandery on Aug. 1 under the direction of Cincinnati-area digital marketing executives and entrepreneurs.

“Demo Day is the opportunity for the companies to showcase the progress they have made over the 12-week program to a nationwide investment community,” says David Knox, a Brandery co-founder who also serves as chief marketing officer for Rockfish Interactive in Cincinnati. “They have been preparing since Day 1 to craft strong, viable startups that are ready to receive investment and then grow rapidly.”

The Brandery, named a Top 10 startup accelerator in the nation and a member of the TechStars Network, received applications this year from 22 states and seven countries, including India, Germany, China, Italy, Croatia, Canada and Spain.

() is a suite of web and mobile applications that allow parents and kids to actually enjoy doing their daily chores. Each child can gain points by completing a chore, which they can save up for real life rewards, such as an Xbox, iPad or even a canoe trip. Not only can they obtain real life rewards, but as chores are completed the child will be able to collect and trade over 250 different monsters.

() invites collectors and enthusiasts to buy or sell items they want or own among other trusted friends. Collectors and enthusiasts use Keepio to keep track of their goods and interests, and then buy, sell or share their belongings within public or private groups. Keepio also offers a plug-in product for existing forums and communities focused on discussion of products, collectibles, and memorabilia.

is the fun, visual mobile app that empowers you to get healthier with friends and family through photo-based group challenges. Create meaningful health journeys and compete with the people you know and trust by taking pictures of healthy meals and activities along the way. StyleZEN seamlessly integrates online innovations like recommendation engines, social networks, and curated wish lists into brick-and-mortar fashion retail. StyleZEN improves the in-store experience for consumers and offers retailers innovative solutions to optimize pricing, increase foot traffic, and strengthen customer loyalty.

Four of last year-s six 2010 Class participants have received venture capital funding since completing the program.

Demo Day is the culmination of 12 weeks of intensive mentoring the founders received from dozens of investors, entrepreneurs and other experts, as well as teams from digital marketing agencies who helped the companies refine their investor and consumer appeal. The $20,000 company grants will come from CincyTech, a public-private venture development group that invests in high-tech startup companies. CincyTech is using its Imagining Grant funds, which are aimed at growing companies to the point where they are investable.

The Brandery, which moved into new offices at 1411 Vine St. in Over-the-Rhine this year, receives operating funding from The P&G Fund, the Haile/U.S. Bank Foundation, CincyTech and the Duke Energy Foundation.

The Brandery is a Cincinnati-based, nonprofit startup accelerator founded in 2010 by David Knox, J.B. Kropp, Bryan Radtke and Rob McDonald with the goal of supporting startups in technology-based consumer marketing. More than 50 mentors work with the companies, which each receive $20,000 in seed money from Cincinnati-based venture development firm CincyTech. Good candidates are consumer-facing startups such as consumer Internet, media and entertainment companies that are based on technology platforms.

The Brandery is a member of the TechStars Network — independently owned regional organizations that operate startup accelerator programs in dozens of cities across the United States and around the world.
