City of Lawrence, Mass., Installs 115 LUKE II Multi-Space Parking Pay Stations From Digital Payment Technologies

VANCOUVER, BC — (Marketwire) — 01/09/12 — Today, Digital Payment Technologies () (DPT) announced the first major deployment of its new LUKE II multi-space parking pay stations in Lawrence, Mass. Standard Parking Corporation-s SP Plus Municipal Services operating division installed and will also manage and maintain 115 LUKE II units for the city. These high-tech, solar-powered, multilingual pay stations will provide Lawrence with additional revenue, while improving parking turnover and offering a number of features for consumer convenience.

Like many municipalities across North America, the city of Lawrence is leveraging its parking assets to generate revenue and boost income from operations. Paid parking has the added benefit of increasing parking turnover, which helps local businesses by making it easier for consumers to find open spaces. After a formal RFP process, the city awarded the contract to develop and manage its parking system to Standard Parking Corporation-s SP Plus Municipal Services operating division. Standard recommended DPT-s LUKE II multi-space pay stations for their high satisfaction ratings, and flexibility.

“Standard has a successful history of working with DPT, and we are pleased to be recommending the LUKE II pay station,” said Roamy R. Valera, vice president of SP Plus Municipal Services. “The flexible configuration, convenient payment options, aesthetic appeal and multiple language options make LUKE II a good fit for the city of Lawrence.”

The pay stations operate in a Pay-and-Display (PND) mode, are solar powered, and accept coins, credit cards and smart cards. Consumers have the option to select English or Spanish instructions on the pay station displays — an important feature for Lawrence-s large Hispanic population.

“Cities like Lawrence can benefit tremendously by deploying multi-space parking meters like LUKE II, especially in an economic climate where other revenue sources are so constrained,” said Alan Menezes, vice president of product management and marketing at Digital Payment Technologies. “This represents the first major deployment of the LUKE II pay stations, and we-re confident that Lawrence-s investment in the technology and services offered by DPT and Standard Parking Corporation will deliver great results for the city.”
