Minneapolis Technology Firm Receives the Jefferson Award for Outstanding Community Service

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — (Marketwire) — 12/05/12 — At an event held in the St. Paul, Minnesota Excel Energy Center last Thursday evening, November 29, 2012, Johnstech International and its employees were recognized by the Jefferson Awards for Public Service for outstanding community service within the Twin Cities.

The Jefferson Awards was founded in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard to create a “Nobel Prize” for public service.

Johnstech was recognized for their support of Ronald McDonald House programs and the families they serve during difficult times.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest mission is to open doors to health care and improve lives by creating a caring community through programs that directly impact the health and well-being of children and their families.

“This Jefferson Award for Philanthropy is a high honor,” stated David Johnson, founder, president, and CEO of Johnstech. “However, our employees support the Ronald McDonald House because of the families staying there with children facing life-threatening illnesses. Many of our employees have children at home and understand the hardship that this can bring on a family, especially when living away from home.”

Johnstech employees regularly cook and serve meals to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House near the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children-s Hospital and at the Ronald McDonald House inside the Hospital at Children-s Hospital in Minneapolis.

Johnstech also sponsors employees to participate in Ronald McDonald House charity events, as well as provides matching funds for contributions to the charity of their choice through the company-s program of setting aside 5% of the company-s profits for charity.

“CEO David Johnson and the Johnstech employees go far beyond serving a meal to the families by making each meal an event,” stated Donna Moores, Director of Corporate & Planned Giving Partnerships. “One of the most popular themes we-ve seen from Johnstech was the Twins baseball opener. Employees wore Twins gear to prepare, serve and clean up. They didn-t let the spring snow prevent them from grilling hamburgers and brats just like those sold at Target field. Following baseball-themed activities, each resident was served an ice cream sundae in a bowl shaped like a MN Twins helmet and given a box of cracker jacks to take as they left the dining room. Johntech-s generosity and creativity does so much to lift a family-s spirit during a difficult time.”
