Produce Decontamination Technology Provisional Patent Application Filed by Gyrotron Technology Inc.

BENSALEM, PA — (Marketwired) — 04/29/13 — Gyrotron Technology Inc. (PINKSHEETS: GYTI), developer of innovative industrial technologies, has filed a further provisional patent application for its technology for decontamination of solid and semi-solid produce (e.g. cantaloupes, cucumbers and fruit). In GYTI-s laboratory scale tests, heating surfaces of certain kinds of produce for a small fraction of a second with a gyrotron, a very powerful source of high frequency microwave energy, reduced the bacteria count on those surfaces by a factor of greater than 100,000, without compromising appearance.

Potential advantages of GYTI-s technology include:

1. a drastic decrease in bacteria count and therefore a significant decrease in cases of produce borne illness in the US and worldwide;
2. an environmentally friendly process;
3. cost savings in the decontamination process.

“We are very pleased with the opportunity to help address a major public health concern and at the same time provide substantial commercial benefits to the produce industry,” said Dr. Vlad Sklyar, President of GYTI. “Produce decontamination is a very large market opportunity for us.”

About Gyrotron Technology — (PINKSHEETS: GYTI)
GYTI develops and markets unique industrial technologies to a broad range of industries, including glass, semiconductor and food. Most of these utilize the gyrotron, a very powerful source of high frequency microwave energy. These technologies open new horizons, substantially enhancing productivity and cutting costs by, among other things, applying heat in a dramatically more efficient and effective manner than is possible with legacy technologies.
