Physicians Interactive and Tramuto Foundation Provide $10,000 Grant to Frannie Peabody Center for Emergency Healthcare Services

READING, MA — (Marketwired) — 10/01/13 — , the leading provider of online and mobile clinical resources and solutions for healthcare professionals, and the today announced that they were partnering to provide a $10,000 grant to the in Maine. The grant will provide funds to support the Center-s Emergency Healthcare Services program for HIV and AIDS patients in the greater Portland, ME metropolitan area.

The Frannie Peabody Center is Maine-s largest organization focused on providing services to people with HIV and AIDS. With offices in York and Cumberland counties, the Center provided comprehensive services for more than 500 people with HIV and AIDS in 2012, as well as prevention services for others in at-risk populations in southeastern Maine.

“Physicians Interactive and the Tramuto Foundation have been strong supporters of the Frannie Peabody Center for several years,” said Megan Hannan, executive director of the center. “At a time when non-profit organizations struggle for funding, their support is incredibly important to what we do to keep clients healthy. This latest grant enables us to greatly expand the reach of our Emergency Healthcare Services program, one of the most important services we offer when clients need help the most. The funding enables us to mobilize in emergency situations to help clients with their dental costs and medical bills.”

Donato Tramuto, the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Physicians Interactive, founded the Tramuto Foundation to provide direct support to children in need, as well as grants, contributions and other funding to organizations that share their mission of helping challenged youths fulfill their dreams.

“The Frannie Peabody Center provides critical resources and emotional support to the HIV and AIDS community in Southeastern Maine,” said Tramuto. “Both Physicians Interactive and the Tramuto Foundation work hard in the fight against HIV and AIDS. We-re on the front lines not just in Maine, but across the globe through programs like , a program which I founded in 2010 to provide mobile health technology to medical professionals in some of the most underserved regions in the world. We are proud to help the Frannie Peabody Center provide services to those most in need through this grant.”

In addition to healthcare services, the Frannie Peabody Center staff made more than 9,000 prevention outreach and education contacts in the community in 2012. It also serviced 435 people with assistance in finding housing, including subsidies for 199 people.

“Even though we are in Maine, the impact of what the Frannie Peabody Center does is felt far beyond our borders,” said Hannan. “Approximately 17 percent of our clients are ethnic and racial minorities, and we provide services to a lot of immigrants, refugees and people seeking asylum in the greater Portland metropolitan area. HIV and AIDS at their core are global healthcare issues, and we-re doing our best — with the great support of Physicians Interactive and the Tramuto Foundation — to solve our piece of the puzzle.”

The Tramuto Foundation provides grants to help youths with special challenges overcome adversity and build the confidence necessary to achieve personal excellence. As a child, Donato J. Tramuto struggled with severe hearing loss. He overcame the obstacles to become an accomplished leader in the healthcare industry, elected official in the Town of Ogunquit, and board member serving on several prestigious boards. He is passionate about inspiring others to realize their own dreams through dedication and hard work. The foundation was established in 2001, following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Donato had planned to be on Flight 175 — the second plane to hit the World Trade Center. He made a last-minute decision to get on an earlier flight; his 2 close friends and 3-year old son lost their lives. The Tramuto Foundation was established in their memory. The Tramuto Foundation recently announced its plan to distribute up to $250,000 in grants over the next three years. For more information, visit website.
